he’s had a generally successful organization for a long time so there’s really no reason to think he’s incompetent.
To be fair, he's playing to win in a league where the vast majority of franchises exist to develop talent, with winning being a secondary objective.

Not hard to have a successful organization when you go full try hard when nobody else can. And obviously it doesn't mesh with NHL needs given how fast they've burned through affiliates the last decade.

Wolves 1-2-1 so far, the1 win being OT, and currently down 2-0 to MIL. Can't say I expected that, I thought with the level of prospects they have that the team would be fairly dominant.

I think a few things are contributing to the slow start. First, they've played only Milwaukee and Hershey, who have been running excellent AHL teams out there in recent years. A significant portion of our guys have not played together much before given the events of last season, and that's gotta hurt, especially compared to the aforementioned teams. Also, Perets is cheeks.

ETA: Also, the coach would certainly have a big adjustment period given where he's been in recent years.

Wolves in action early today. Already down 1-0. Khazheyev getting his first AHL action which could be tough given he doesn't seem to have done all that well in his one partial ECHL game.
They were outshot 6-0 in the first 4 min (GA just 2:23 in), then the Wolves got 3 shots between 7-10 min, then nobody shot the whole last half of the period (shots 6-3 Iowa). Holy shit that looks like a boring game...which for a 12PM game on a Tuesday is fitting.

Iowa is looking for their first win - a couple not so hot teams.

one thing of note (at least to me, who missed it if it was mentioned before) - suzuki is playing wing now. i thought he had only played center to date but haven't paid too much attention in all honesty. if it is a new change, i hope it can afford him a wider path to the league - even if we have to trade him somewhere with more opportunity.

I watched the game for just a few min yesterday on break and the whole team looked disjointed, like nobody knew what they were supposed to do, where they were supposed to be, what the scheme/setup was... everyone was on different pages offensively and defensively. Granted it was just a few min, but it made me cringe to watch, and that's when they weren't even being pressured by the other team

It’s early. But was hoping to see some more inspiring production from Nadeau & FUS.

I really thought FUS might tear up the AHL, but so far 0 goals, 1 assist in 7 games.
Yeah. Our season has been so amazing so far in the NHL, and everything has gone right. Our prospects in Russia and college are playing well. But our AHL squad has me pretty concerned. Not that they have to be scoring PPG, but you start to get concerned for their long term development to see so much losing and so little success.

I'm still willing to give the team some time to gel. The coach coming over from a completely different hockey world. The players not having been able to play much with each other because of last year's situation. Tough early schedule. I hope and think we'll slowly start to see some better results and some development.

For sure. Since I called out FUS, this is also his first year on North American ice. So that could take some time to get used to.

Congrats!

What the heck is up with the ticker on that one? They say the Admirals are on the PP with a minute and change remaining. They aren't. I count 5 players for each side.

Then after we score, they mark that the Admirals go up 1-0 after his tally, instead of making it 1-1 like it should have.

You could not have been less helpful if you tried.

FUS at center experiment over? Probably for the best, he produced 1 assist to start the season
Not surprised this Chicago team isn't the greatest looking at that lineup. The few vets they do have aren't exactly AHL superstars and the younger prospects while solid aren't exactly our best prospects either save for Morrow, FUS, and Nadeau.

They're missing their Chris Terrys and Keith Aucoins
