How would doing nothing send the wrong message?

My opinion...we did that last year and it "could" have helped gain x1 more extra point and secure a playoff spot..

To me it's important to the guys to play both play meaning games and experience playoff hockey..

Just my opinion but if we're in the mix I hope we make a smart add

Imo, last year was more important than this year. There were holes, for sure, the slide was happening, and there wasn't young guys ready to step in like this year. Last year they could have used just about ANY move imo to get that 1 point like you said.

This year, while I don't want them to stand pat, am much more understanding of why they would. Red Wings legitimately have a half dozen prospects knocking on the door for next year and some depth this year in the AHL with guys like Shine/Watson.

While Red Wings did a lot of losing they never acted like a clown show/circus.

Vancouver ownership is pretty bad though from what I've been told. Lots of past meddling in hockey decisions, etc.

We needed a dman and we kinda got one in Johansson finally getting a shot and being a big player now for us. I still think itll be tough for us to make the playoffs and I wouldn't add anyone unless it's a longterm piece

I'd at least move lyon if the plan is to go cossa talbot next season . We have 3 goalies in g.r we can use for remaining 30ish games ... get that 2nd for Lyon we can use as a trade chip

Yeah; Alex Lyon's value has never been higher. He can fit in about EVERY Stanley cup contender's cap and isn't a long-term cap liability while also maybe being one of the best goalies even available(if available).

I'd be bending a team's backwards; need a 2nd at the least and even ask for more if I'm trading him. I personally don't want to till they're out of a playoff position. IF Talbot ever got hurt down the stretch it'd be pretty tough to be confident in a Cossa/Husso pair.

I get it but it's the one position we can afford to move a guy and add an extra trade chip. Even if Talbot goes out I'd be ok with leaning on cossa/campbell for 25 games

What better way to find out what cossa is made of??? Campbell has looked good in g.r , granted not nhl where he struggled last time but he has had good moments in his career which is how he got a 25 mill deal. Think hed be capable of some good starts

I wouldn't even think twice ... Vegas seems like the obvious trade partner to me ... hill and Samsonov both have 900 or less save % , dont think they'll go anywhere with those 2

Least lyon has shown what he can do and vegas is a way better team than Detroit so I'm sure hed perform. We can even take samsonov back in the deal if we had 2

Lyon for samsonov if we had to and 2025 2nd and a 6th for taking back a goalie ??? Who knows either way if im yzerman and we have 3 goalies in g.r hes gone. Its what's best longterm

As I said earlier, sometimes the rot has to be cleaned out from both ends...it takes two to tango, and unfortunately, if it has polarized the room, the Knuks now have a huge problem to deal with...

as long as Hughes is on board everyone else on that team is expendable. But what would smooth that locker room over the quickest is just winning some games. They go on a bit of a tear, Chytl thrives a bit...it'll be amazing how quickly any remaining locker room issues will disappear.

Call me crazy, but I don’t want Pettersson. He seems like kind of a whiny baby. He can find that locker room at a perpetual loser that isn’t Detroit.

I asked this in the miller trade thread, but why the hell wasn’t the team captain involved in making those two idiots work it out? Is Hughes just that bad of a leader?

not afraid to admit i wanted wallstedt over cossa (although it's way too early to say wholl be better in the end) and I liked matthew wood over danielson

Ya I think theres a 0% chance he resigns longterm in 3 years. I agree he likely ends up in Nj but maybe if we keep going upwards we can convince him to come back home to his family and friends... and us lol

Or was Miller just that much of an issue? From what I've read part of why Miller has been moved in the past is that he's been an issue in the locker room. In Vancouver he was older than pretty much any other player on that team, he was one of their main players...that guy is going to have a voice in the locker room and he's going to feel entitled to it because of his position.
