Whenever I've seen the Flyers I've liked Farabee...and then I see his actual numbers and they just aren't where I'd expect them to be. Maybe he and Frost will take off in Calgary. Philly could gain some cap flexibility going forward, I guess that was the appeal to them.

I think the Pens should just be dealing people off and grabbing what picks they can. Retain on Malkin and see which contender wants to add him for the next two years.

I just heard Jamie oleksiak made the trade board now ... what would it take to get him??? 6'7 dman yes please, locked at 1 more year... I cant a see a 1st unless it's a real cup contender like Toronto etc.. offering a late 1st maybe

We can turn around and resign oleksiak when hes a ufa to 2 or 3 years and he can be our veteran dman to surround the kids???

Just because someone plays top 6 in the AHL doesnt mean that will be a top 6 nhl forward come on. I think there's way too many guys unless they bust that will be ahead of him on this team,or will be

It's not because he plays in top-6, it's because how he performes there. 0.65 PPG, constantly winning puck battles, hits, does all the efforts that helps the team win.

And there isn't "too many guys", without the injury Mazur would have been called up already. Other forward prospects are either years away or doesn't compete for a same role as Mazur.

I like it as well. But if a net positive can happen through an aggregate of smaller moves, I'm all for it.

For example, let's say that Tarasenko and Rasmussen are dealt in exchange for two second round picks. Not a home run by any means. But if those picks and a sweetener are then flipped for long term help at either second pairing defense or a top half of the lineup forward, that's an overall win.

It doesn't have to be a big splash or a major shakeup. But you miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take, so I hope Yzerman is working the phones wherever he can to keep the options open.

I’d like to see the Wings acquire Hague from the Knights which is exactly the type of dman they need and send Holl to the press box. Johansson would fit nicely with someone who has his size and grit, and move Chariot and Perry to the 3rd pairing

Vancouver possibly. I'd rather do 2025 and 2026 1st and maybe keep Danielson since we don't know yet what we got on our hands. So many people counting out Kasper and now I don't think many people wants to trade him. Probably for the best to wait a bit with Danielson too.

I would hate it and I wouldn’t want to, but if we are trying to be as objective as humanly possible and take emotions out, long term of ep40 is of higher upside than kasper. Kasper is going to be a great playoff performer, can definitely see that happening.

@Petes2424 made that comment before that with kasper doing so well, it could be positioning him for a trade to Vancouver.

I will say, if we trade kasper+ for miller and not ep40, then yeah I’ll probably be pretty upset about it.

Aljo is not and will not be better than edvinsson. Saying that doesn't make you edgy. Aljo looks as good as he does BECAUSE of edvinsson. Just like Ian white looked good next to lids

How much cap space does a team need? Red Wings will have about 27 million assuming that 95.5 million dollar number. Either guy might not be the worst move ever.

That's without any cap clearing moves. Where you could likely pull a Walman with Rasmussen if you need cap space.

we shouldn't be moving anymore 2nds to move players. If anything with the cap going up we should use it to our advantage to eat salary and move some guys out who I think teams would be interested if it wasnt for the money

Chiarot,tarasenko and talbot ,yes Talbot come to mind. All 3 would be retained salary for us for only 1 season and with edvinsson kasper johansson and possibly danielson and cossa at cheap $ now would be the chance to do so

Talbot is there if we can get a really good return and only if Lyon is extended. Either way I think each can at least get back a 2nd I'd say and I'd just call up jack Campbell who looks to be doing good. If he still sucks in the NHL, call up cossa last 10-15 games. Husso is a lost cause


Chiarot and tarasenko should get returns at 50% and would create spots for next year. I'd move a copp/compher if possible

After ridding some guys I'd target bigger impact guys in trades. Sooner we can dump guys the better

Yeah the Wings will have a bunch of cap space if it goes to 95.5. We could do Berg 2 mil, Soder 2 mil, and Aljo 4 mil, promote Cossa and we'd still have 17 mil in cap space and 1 roster spot to fill.

Then you factor in that we probably need to create some spots for players needing to come up and/or better vets and we will probably make some additional cap space by dealing guys.

Holl should be bought out 2.2 mil in saves next year. Even with replacing him we still likely save 1 mil for the spot.

Tank is another guy that I could see being bought out unless he picks it up over the remaining games. Right now he is probably the 4th line wing next year and Mazur is a much better fit in that role. Saves close to 3 mil in cap space.

I think its time to trade either Copp or Compher. Right now I'm leaning trying to hold and deal Compher. Copp is overpaid and has less offense (when both are on) but he at least can win faceoffs and be dependable defensively. I think he adds more value on the PK and taking D zone faceoffs than Compher does on PP2. So I'll say we deal Compher and hold 2 mil in salary.

Honestly I think Stevie will do more wheeling and dealing that the above. I think Veleno, Ras, and Berg could all be gone before the season is over. Chiarot is another guy I think could be out the door if Stevie can land Mo a better partner. I also think Rantanen doesn't end up here but he was my 14 mil placeholder.

I agree that's the likely outcome but I think it's a mistake. As fun as it's been recently I still think the likely outcome is we miss the playoffs

Rantanen isnt coming here... I can see veleno going and I'd have np moving Rasmussen but I can see him returning for 4th line duties

Think moving berggren with how cheap his contract is and him playing better and producing would be a mistake. I'd rather move a tarasenko & copp

Id like to see a 3rd line of soderblom danielson berggren next season
