I seem to recall the next CBA the GMs/owners would prefer a reduced limit for RFA and UFA contract lengths (8 years down to 6 for RFAs and 7 years down to 5 for UFAs).

NHLPA would then likely counter having UFA age dropped to 25, or 26…We’ll see.
I have np with how it is now I have a problem with GM's being stupid lmao

I'd hate to lose a generation talent we drafted a year or 2 early to ufa. Would be good if they can have teams have 1 player that wouldn't count against the cap but I think would cause headaches with the 50/50 split

Or at least have a 3rd goalie teams can sign and carry and wouldnt count against the cap. Teams can send that goalie down for conditioning at times. Too many goalie injuries now

Cant have barry from the stands get called in to a game anymore lol

pfft, no one calls guys out from the stands to play goalie. Those are the zamboni drivers.

Whatever happens they better not lose games over it. The system they have seems to work pretty well, and shouldn't need any massive changes. They lose games over stupid stuff, they're going to lose fans.

I'm not the biggest fan of Cozens lately but I think he would do really well with a change of scenery. Might even pop off here if Detroit pulls that trigger somehow

With that being said, Vancouver are almost perfect trading partners for Cozens and the Sabres with Pettersson/Miller going the other way

I feel Pettersson will most likely be gone and they will run Miller/Cozens down the middle. EP has a biggest cap hit to unload and the Canucks want to make a run ASAP. Where Vancouver may target a filler in the same trade for their battered D core right now

Is it just me or is Cozens overrated?
Super over-rated. Idk why he'd be such a value target.

Pivot and just try to knab Pettersson would be my advice to Yzerman. Play till the TDL, see where the teams at, look at add a defender if you're in a playoff hunt/position or sell some guys on expiring contracts if the team is out. (imo).

Who cares what I think though, maybe Cozens is had for cheap by Yzerman he does really well here...

Buffalo is where kids go to die , if sabres keep cozens another year they risk his value further declining. I even seen power's name in rumors

I do think cozens will explode and go back to what he was 2 years ago when he gets moved and I'd 100% be in on him if we didnt have to give up our top prospects. I dont think teams will give up their top prospects in a cozens deal either or give up a current top lineup guy

Sabres are in a tough spot

2025 or 2026 Top 10 protected 1st(I'd get it pushed to 2027 if we get in the top 10 draft the next 2 years to be safe. I'm not giving up a shot at mckenna)

1 of

Kiiskinen/mazur
Veleno/rasmussen
Compher/copp

Not good enough , oh well try with mctavish or someone else who might be available. These 5 wins are fun but wont go anywhere longterm till the defense is fixed so maybe try and upgrade there as well

Sabres would probably be better off trying to convince a mctavish swap or something similar but maybe teams will just decline

Veleno,Rasmussen (from Vancouver),Copp,Wallinder and a 2026 first for Elias Petterson?
I'm reading Vancouver wants a top 6 center or top 3 dman +top prospect or 1st rounder for Petterson. That trade would have to center (no pun intended )around one of Larkin, Seider or Ed and one of Danielson or ASP.

Most of the trade proposals from this board for Petterson have been along the lines of, "I'll give you my 2012 Honda Civic, 2018 Ford Focus and brand new Chevy Equinox for your Ferrari". Packaging our trash will only bring trash as a return.

What does that say about Petterson then?

There’s always drama surrounding him. This team doesn’t need that shit. Same with Miller. That’s why their names are out there. And to me it’s a red flag.

People actually want him? **** that. Theoretically we trade for him and he decides to want out because he’s being whiney. So we lose him and whoever we give up.

Nah. Vancouver can keep him or trade him elsewhere. Doesn’t matter because SY isnt going to do it anyways.

Even though I said Cozens is overrated - id rather take a chance on him and hope he becomes a consistent 60-70P player. Maybe even an 80P guy

I agree they will want more but they won't get what they are asking for. All I know is the contracts match and a first round pick plus Wallinder isn't bad.

No team is giving up a Larkin or Seider plus an ASP or Danielson for Petterson..period...

Heck what teams even have that outside us?

Do they have room for adding 2 guys to the roster?
Not sure. They can waive some if not or send some back or add a third team. That shouldn't stop a trade if they are cool with the return. As for the 2026 first that pick is very valuable. Remember we got ASP with their pick...
