"From the Detroit side of things. They’re in a bit of a different type of position, to a certain extent, because of their contractual status with a lot of their guys. They signed a lot of veterans, a lot of guys with term to kind of fill out the roster, thinking that those guys were going to complement some of the younger players on their team.

It just hasn’t worked out the way that they anticipated. So they’ve got to pivot. And it sounds like they want to be somewhat, at least talking to other teams, sounds like Detroit’s been trying to be a little bit aggressive as well.”

If the trade isn't there then the deal just isn't there for Steve Y. I like hearing rumblings like this where it's pretty known they've been at least calling around looking for a deal. It's all any fan can ask for. We wanna deal, just not a stupid one.

Report: Canucks exploring trade market for Pettersson, Miller

I'm sure it's nothing but this gave me enough of a dopamine rush for 3 seconds.

Gol' dang-it. Just trade the kid somewhere already Vancouver, I'm literally tired of looking/hoping every morning Yzerman's made a move for Pettersson. Whatever team gets Pettersson I think will be happy and look just like Vegas with the Eichel trade/situation.

*Cold as heck out, I actually love what I do, but days like this I wish horses didn't drink much water.

Also, I don't want to see William Lagesson on this team over Toumisto... What do young guys got to do to get a legitimate call up? Give the kid the shock of the bigs till Petry is back and send him down. Worst case is he's better than most on the team and you've got to figure something out on the roster to keep the young kid around... Like, Cossa didn't even get a start, heck he's battling a situation even with two other goalies in the AHL.(Maybe a good thing keeping him healthy/fresh)

Hopefully we don't see other guys like Sheldon Dries/Rafferty get call ups over young fellas.

Wings are in a bit of a tough spot trade wise because we don't have excess on team talent to trade. Ed, Seider, Larkin, and Ray can't be dealt because it sets us back unless we are getting like a McDavid or slightly below tier player. What we have are prospects and picks but most of teams that we are hearing rumors about are competing or trying to jump to that playoff level. They want equally good players back not prospects.

We need that older team that is about to fall off and head to a rebuild but has that random mid to late 20s guy that they randomly pulled despite drafting late. I don't see a ton of those at the moment.

A lot of the old guard is still hanging in there.

Still hoping Stevie can snag us a top 4 LD someplace. Ideally a really good defensive dman. A vet would be ideal since Seider, Ed, and ASP are so young. Kinda hoping the Pens fall out and we can maybe snag Petterson from them.

Kaliyev’s best season is better than berggren’s.

If kaliyev is destined for Europe, berggren will be right behind him.

He doesn't want to play defensively. He's a poor man's Sprong.

Burger is at least committed to playing defensively, he just can't seem to commit to playing physically.

I don't think either Stevie or Todd will want Kaliyev. Heck, I'd rather get Sprong back. Would probably cost only a late round pick, he hasn't done shit this season. And he'll probably go right back to a 20 goal pace if Todd tells him to just go play hockey.

The Kings board basically says that Todd hated him and was the one to send him down to the AHL for all the usual: no defense, no effort etc etc - can’t imagine Todd would be banging the table for the guy
Todd McLellan on what he didn’t like from Arthur Kaliyev’s performance yesterday: “His whole night.”

Wouldn’t be surprised to see some lineup changes at practice today.

Yeah this tracks, sounds like he wasn't a fan of his game at all.

So just saw vatrano signed a contract to defer 9 million 10 years from now so the ducks get him at a cap of like 4.5 mill instead of 6

6??? How is a basically a career 40ish pt guy getting 6 ... and as im writing this I realized we gave compher and copp 5-5.6 lmao

Someone's gotta help these GM's from themselves

Def not just a Steve thing, you gotta pay up especially in free agency.

And Vatrano is a winger.

I mean he did score 37 goals last year

not calling it smart, he's 30 and has never done that before and is back to his career scoring norms this year but that's about as many goals as Copp and Compher's career highs combined

the term's also not so bad at 3 years

I seem to recall the next CBA the GMs/owners would prefer a reduced limit for RFA and UFA contract lengths (8 years down to 6 for RFAs and 7 years down to 5 for UFAs).

NHLPA would then likely counter having UFA age dropped to 25, or 26…We’ll see.

Pettersson would be a great option for us. Competing teams often have two premium Cs, like McDavid/Drai, Sid/Malkin, Yzerman/Fedorov, Foppa/Sakic. I don’t know if we could offer the right package, though. Would Compher, Veleno/Raz, MBN, Tuomisto/Viro/Albert, 1st and 2nd even be enough?

How many warnings till you're banned from the site?

IMHO Lyon is by far the best value we have going on 2 seasons… Nobody comes close.
Seider untill this year because he got paid. Before that he was the best value. Edvinsson "might" be the next best value now.

Elias Pettersson to Red Wings For Nate Danielson, J.T. Compher, Michael Rasmussen & 1st Round Pick

Well what they did was smart to avoid the 6 cap hit . If a player is content getting 900 k yearly for 10 yrs , 10 yrs from now then its something we should do

Just dont think anyone should be paying 6 mill for 42 pt seasons. Hopefully yzerman looks at something like this later on although I dont know how it works and if its only for older players ?

Give edvinsson 4 mill cap hit x 8 and then 20 mill 20 yrs from now for 10 yrs lmao just spitballing and probably wouldnt work I'm sure theres a limit in $ . I'd have to look it up more
