I think through 5 games with a new coach, we have not had a negative shot differential game yet.

I was playing around looking at some advanced stats and happened to see this. Low Danger Goals Against:

I know PDO is out there as a measurement of "luck", but man, Chiarot and Petry being league leaders in garbage goals against seems like maybe an indicator that they maybe aren't as bad as they seem and won't be the cause of so many losses in the future

I feel like that has a lot to do with the tremendous shot disparity they were giving up as a pairing. More shots = more opportunities for garbage goals

Chiarot has been tremendous under McLellan so far

I have to say, as president of the Chiarot hater club, that these games under McLellan have been the very best games I've ever seen him play and by like 2 standard deviations. He looks so good right now (at least compared to normal).

Um, remember that goal against to start the third period the first time we played Winnipeg? I am sure that was a low danger chance, but I wouldn't call it bad luck. I would call it the Ben and Jeff suck show.

Breaking those two up has been the right thing to do.

I would argue that part of Chiarot and the other D looking better is a result of the better puck support and zone exits. I've been saying Chiarot gets too much grief here. And a lot of the problems were from running around after getting pinned in their own end.

I'd be curious to see stats on how much the Wings have been spending in the offensive versus defensive zone since Mclellan took over.

Chiarot has taken a lot of shit from his first season when his Dad was dying and he+Mo were playing thehardest minutes in the league.

Give him a decent partner and hes a top 4 D. The start of this year he looked pretty bad, Petry was horrible and the rest of the team wasnt great either. Chiarot has been fine for 2 seasons now

Think I mentioned this earlier already, but our rise on expected goals did already start in November under Lalonde. But finally it was the coaching change, which did brought the winning results.

This is 10-game rolling xG average from this season. I think the "flu bug" affected on the team also at earlier part of the season. Too many guys who did sit as healthy scracth were mentioned with flu bug for first 1,5 months.

DeBrincat has 17 power play points in 42 games this year, compared to 19 power play points in 82 games last year.

I think he has developed some really nice chemistry with Raymond and has been a big reason we have the 2nd best power play in the league right now.
