Salary Cap: 24 25 Salary Thread Crosbicles Volume Mmxxvii Retool over Time to Go for A Cup in 2026

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Indirectly he did yes. If you wanna hold onto this ridiculous narrative you go right ahead. And if you think Rakell and EK are solutions then God help you.

The only reason the picks came about is because Schenn asked to be moved.

It isn't about me on Karlsson and Rakell. They don't want to leave and Dubas doesn't want to trade them.

But none of Bunting, Schenn or Desharnais were UFA's. And directly or indirectly they brought back draft picks.

Plus/minus is your determining factor?

Hoo boy. That is one extemely flawed statistic to not only hang your hat on, but overcome 15 point differences.

Have a look at the Caps plus minuses, and the Penguins. Do you think the quality of the team plays a part, or do you think Ovechkin's all-around game is just that much better than Crosby's? You know the answer.
Yes, the quality of the team plays a part. And Crosby's play is part of the quality of the team. I'm not saying it's Crosby's 'fault' that he's too old to consistently backcheck effectively, but nonetheless, the team gives up lots of High Danger Chances Against when he's on the ice.
Yes. Which is exactly why they will give it to us so they have the flexibility of moving the 2026 pick with protections on it to improve their team.
I could see this, but I could also see a scenario where trading away the ~10OA this season allows them to make a greater improvement to their team.
Sort of like how Rutherford traded away a conditional pick for Zucker, which went to the next season, and then traded away this season's pick and gave the Wild our 2021 1st unprotected.
Of course, Rutherford used our 15OA pick on Kasperi Kapanen, so this would be a bad example of the Rangers 'improving the team now'.

Plus/minus was abandoned a long time ago as a reliable statistic because it doesn't reflect player's actual all-around contributions, and the quality of players' teams plays an outsized role. Ovechkin is +20. Crosby is -22. That tells you everything you need to know about that statistic.

I love how Torts is out as coach after the Flyers free fall but our equally bad coach stays put and is probably going to get another contract extension, despite missing the playoffs the same number of seasons as the Flyers have missed under Torts lol…very sad

People have been saying Torts has been zombie walking through the motions for weeks in Philly. Expected this would be his last season there.

Hoping Sully gets similarly bored and his arrogance makes him think he's too good to coach a bottom feeder.

Based on all the fluff pieces, Sully is 100% back next year.

Sullivan was never going to get fired before his 10 year anniversary with the team, just so we could suffer through the disgusting tribute the team will make for him

Sully and Torts are buddies. Maybe they bring in Torts to coach our OT and SO efforts. Or maybe utilize his skills as the team's psychologist/counselor.

Yeah, I think the only hope is that Sullivan just says "I'm too good for this, I want to go compete for Cups elsewhere."
He had his chance with New Jersey last year and declined. Now, if Boston comes available this summer...who knows? But not like they are on their way to a cup. They might be one of the few teams like look worse than us for the future.
