In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerIf the Rangers finish with the ten overall selection after the draft lottery will they keep that pick and give the penguins their 2026 1st round pick? I think the penguins get the Rangers 1st this year, but will be around 14 to 16 overall. Not a bad haul for Dubas. Will be nice if the Rangers continue to lose. They have 10 games left. 4 against duds and 6 playoff teams.
Would be nice to have two top 10 selections if they end up sending the pick over.
Who could believe Petts and DOC could be turned into a top 10 pick?
I seriously doubt the Rangers will give that pick up if it's top 13. They could but again doubt they will. Will be nice if the Rangers continue to lose. They have 10 games left. 4 against duds and 6 playoff teams.

You don't need picks or prospects to sign UFA's.
I totally agree they didn't want to trade him! We disagree on pretty much everything else because all Kyle has done in the past year is accrue a boatload of picks and prospects and a view toward the future.
it would mean that they think they will be worse next year, and no team wants to do that.I seriously doubt the Rangers will give that pick up if it's top 13. They could but again doubt they will.
He traded away Bunting, he wasn't a UFA with a 4th. He ended up with Novak a 2hd and a 4th."He only traded away UFA's" for a boatload of picks and prospects and a view on the future.
That, and took on players for picks.
But that's okay because, I don't think they are trading either Karlsson or Rakell.
So, if it's 8TH-10th OA they'll give us this years pick? I seriously doubt that but hey if so great!I guarantee they will unless it's top 5.
Truly never know. The Rangers are an older team with only $10 mill in cap space and multiple players needed to be signed to field a full roster.I seriously doubt the Rangers will give that pick up if it's top 13. They could but again doubt they will.
If your Drury you want an immediate win for your team. Which is why if they're able to I think they'd keep it.Truly never know. The Rangers are an older team with only $10 mill in cap space and multiple players needed to be signed to field a full roster.
Unless they trade a Kreider or ZiB type contract so not only get better but get a bad contract off their books, they really don’t have much pathways to get drastically better other than simply playing better.
Their FO could see the writing on the wall and want to plan for a complete reset after next year and just accept giving the Pens the 10-12th overall pick in a bad draft…
Especially if they foresee themselves potential there to be worse or right around the same next year in a much better draft.
But truthfully, it’s a win win for the Penguins. It’s either 2 top 12 picks this year, or likely the same next year.
Only slightly negative thing is if they keep the pick to next year and the Rangers turn things around in a big way.
There's absolutely no chance the Rangers are giving up their protected pick to the Pens this year. They are well aware it might be the end for their aging core, and they fully intend to go for it (sounds familiar?).Truly never know. I tend to agree, giving up a top 13 pick when this is a win now team wouldn't make a lot of sense. If Drury passed up such a high pick he'd be tarred and feathered. There's absolutely no chance the Rangers are giving up their protected pick to the Pens this year. There's a good chance it will blow up on them. They failed miserably with drafting and development during their rebuild and accelerated it largely with Fox, Trouba, and Panarin forcing their way to the team. Zibanejad, Panarin, Trocheck, Kreider all look like they might be showing age decline and if it gets worse next year they're screwed. But Dolan expects to compete with Shesterkin and will pull out all the stops to include firing everyone and making radical changes. Let's hope they embarrass themselves next year like Nashville this year. But they aren't giving up that 1st in 2025 if they don't have to.I tend to agree, giving up a top 13 pick when this is a win now team wouldn't make a lot of sense. Great trade for us bad move by them. There's a good chance it will blow up on them. EK has a five million dollar bonus paid 7/1, so didn't think he'd be moved.
Be great if they were moved however as they're clearly not helping this team win anything.
And?He brought back Novak and Schenn
then....
Schenn brought back the 2nd + 4th.
Both players going out had 1 year of term left.
Schenn forced his way out or there wouldn't be any picks. Dubas wasn't planning on trading him.
Indirectly he did yes. Beyond that Schen himself wasn't a UFA. Neither was Desharnias. If you wanna hold onto this ridiculous narrative you go right ahead. And if you think Rakell and EK are solutions then God help you.Bunting didn't bring back picks/futures.
Like I said, that is good for us if it goes this way. There's absolutely no chance the Rangers are giving up their protected pick to the Pens this year. They are well aware it might be the end for their aging core, and they fully intend to go for it (sounds familiar?).
Intent doesn't matter; Only results. He did a great job getting that return.Schenn forced his way out or there wouldn't be any picks. Dubas wasn't planning on trading him.
