Y’all goofy. If Dubas wants to maximize value, what works better. “Damn, we blow. Can’t wait to get rid of Raks and Schenn, and, if I’m being honest, my wife has been nagging me, too. She’s on the block.”

Or

“We don’t need to trade anyone. They’re good. We need em. You’ll have to really give me something good. Especially for my wife”

Honestly, there are so many teams that need a Novak+Schenn combo. Toronto being one.

Novak+Schenn
for
Kampf/Jarnkrok+Robertson+Cowen/Minten+2025 2nd

Something like that.

HFPens as a collective if that happens

I think Luke Schenn is more so viewed as an asset that is a good guy in the room.

He also has more cups than anyone besides the core.

Oh I don't mind Schenn as a veteran guy that they can count on to be a pro in the room and maybe flip for something at the deadline next year. I was more laughing at the idea that 35 year Luke Schenn with 1.5 years left on his contract is what will help the Penguins "urgently work to get this team back into contention in the next few seasons."

Apologies for bringing up "rebuilding value" again, but Novak is a guy I'd probably be more inclined to keep than trade right now. If you trade Rakell for futures, he's the guy I slide up to Crosby's LW to pump up his production and value.

He has a career average of 20 goals and 48 points per 82 games. Play him with Crosby after you trade Rakell and Novak likely gets a huge bump in production and value. My bigger question with this is who is playing with Malkin if you do that?

I forget which team it was but wasn't some of the talk about potential Rakell destinations, the team(s) needing a center more so than Rakell?

Maybe Novak and Rakell gets the ball rolling for a big return or something, I dunno.

I think he's speaking to other teams for that part tbh

If Sid gets Novak, it’s only fair that Geno gets Schenn

True, but I don't know if he's so bad he values Bunting more than Toronto's best prospects.

Either way, I don't really wanna trade Novak baring an overpay.
It could be a case that Toronto needs a team to take back bad money with term. Like Max Domi or Ryan Reeves aren't going to fit in a team with delusions of making the playoffs next year and by all accounts Nashville thinks they can turn the ship around.

there is absolutely no reason you move Novak. He is tailor made for Sullivan’s system and will be over played.

I'm really curious for how they plan on using him. I can see him being used as any of a Rakell replacement on L1, Bunting replacement on L2 or a 3C at his natural position. It will probably just be a Bunting replacement but I think there are options there.

Look at Novak’s hit totals lol. You gotta go out of your way to hit that little. I’m sure he’s an effective player but that + he also blows on faceoffs.
