The Old Master
come and take it.
better to get picks for next year.We have a 1st, and three 3rds in the draft? Would be nice to add a 2nd in there. More scratch off tickets we have the better. I hope MP can get that kind of return.

Bro, they're like the 6th worst team with him.Someone needs to ask Crosby to get a 2-3 week long boo boo for this team to ensure a top 10 if not top 5 pick.
Only thing stopping them from being a top 5 pick is him.
His goal scoring is heating up. All it takes is someone else on the team to beat up with him and we are close enough to make that 6th worst turn into 14th worst.Bro, they're like the 6th worst team with him.
Not confirmed but supposedly his current team is under the impression he isn't returning.Hallander isn't confirmed yet AFAIK.
If a team truly wants Rakell - looks at his contract as a positive (no retention) and will put up a 1st or equivalent prospect - then I can justify moving him. Otherwise, his value here is high enough that the juice isn't worth the squeeze. We don't need to move him for the sake of moving him.

I think it's a leap to pencil him on the 3rd line.
It doesn’t really matter but I just noticed Accari has another year at 2 million. Who da fug offers that kind of player that contract?
He made a big impression on Toronto when they got him. Hasn’t even come close to being that guy in Pittsburgh sadlyIt doesn’t really matter but I just noticed Accari has another year at 2 million. Who da fug offers that kind of player that contract?
How many respects in the handshake line did he get?He made a big impression on Toronto when they got him. Hasn’t even come close to being that guy in Pittsburgh sadly
I do expect him to go on a bit of a run, he's playing well, but still shooting well-below his career average, so I expect a little uptick, but I don't know that it's enough to really tip the scales, when he's literally the only person on this team who can score right now.His goal scoring is heating up. All it takes is someone else on the team to beat up with him and we are close enough to make that 6th worst turn into 14th worst.
If he goes out for something for a couple weeks, that 6th worst turns into 3rd or 4th worst.
Exactly. Just think of the potential if he was out!Bro, they're like the 6th worst team with him.
I don't think it's a leap to assume he'd be on their 3rd line if he's coming over. Randy posted this in the other thread but copying it from there:
"In this game, Hållander drives play in different kind of ways in almost all of his shifts. He feels like a weapon every time he steps onto the ice. He plays a power forward game with strong skating, energy and inside-drive. He has added a slightly better touch at high pace and more various ways to attack now versus his last stint in North America. His defensive game is dominant. He continuously breaks up plays and retrieves pucks for his team. He plays a strong game around the crease. He creates mostly with speed, power and turnovers rather than with space-opening stick handling. He plays a low position close to the goal on the power play and is effective there. He assisted on both goals for Timrå and contributed to many of their scoring chances all game. I can see him playing a Patric Hörnqvist kind of role in the NHL next season. Hållander is most probably a soon 25-year-old rookie on the Pittsburgh Penguins roster. He has been one of the best players in the SHL this season, and if he has a future NHL career , now is the time!"
He's over a PPG in the SHL and is apparently really impressing over there. I don't think it's exactly a stretch to think he's 3rd line caliber based on how much he's producing in the SHL.
All that matters is Sid finishing the year a PPG player, nobody said it had to be a full season.Exactly. Just think of the potential if he was out!
Personally I wish no injury to Crosby and I hope he plays as many games as possible. Missed games = less all time points. All that matters is Sid finishing the year a PPG player, nobody said it had to be a full season.
Hallander does do some net front stuff but not to the tenacity that Hornqvist did. Hallander is also a better skater and more skilled. At least that's how I saw him in his WBS days. I'm excited for him to come back. The last Swedish article I saw was from December 11 and pretty much indicated it was a done deal. I think that's the same article DK references. Glad he's coming back (allegedly).
McGroarty has a similar skill set but isn't as nimble. Hopefully more skilled than Hallander though.
Handed top 6 roles is an odd way to put it. I would say put in a position to succeed by playing with other talented players.Bunting's gone next year. Possibly sooner rather than later if the Eller deal is any indication.
And it'd be nice if these guys weren't simply handed top 6 roles out of a total lack of options
Yeah, that's a deal I'd likely pull the trigger on.Well yeah I don't think anyone is arguing to move him for the sake of moving him. It's about selling high on him as they likely will be able to get a good return for him if they move him.
If you can do something like Rakell to Buffalo for Rosen and a 2nd, I think it's a no brainer to make that move. I think that's a realistic package that you can get (Koivunen caliber prospect and mid/high 2nd), although you may also need to take a contract back.
Tampa fan said they'd do 1st and a 2nd and Sheary for Rakell at 50%.
That's a nice package. That being said, I cannot succumb to Sheary being a penguin in any way.Tampa fan said they'd do 1st and a 2nd and Sheary for Rakell at 50%.
Not nearly enough if they're eating 50% on Rakell's deal.
Using up a retention slot for 4 years just to get that isn't worth it.
Some guys on the mainboard would disagreeAll that matters is Sid finishing the year a PPG player, nobody said it had to be a full season.
It's a fair concern. I think he will be put in the same group as Tomasino, Puljujarvi, Puustinen, and Beauvillier. He's a top 9 wing who doesn't PK. There are three, MAYBE four slots but you already have Rakell, Bunting, McGroarty and a couple others for next year. I don't know think he's well suited for the "defensive 3rd line". I think it's more "top 6 or bust" not unlike Puustinen. Not unless he meshes well with a 3C and another skilled RW.Handed top 6 roles is an odd way to put it. I would say put in a position to succeed by playing with other talented players.
It’s why I’m afraid Koivunen is going to get Sullied. He’s not the fastest so a lot of his game is predicated on finding his team mates, and finding open ice. Yes, he would have easier matchups, but if he passes to Nieto, then finds open ice only for Nieto to dump it in, it’s going to limit his effectiveness.
Hockey really needs to modernize their thought process on this. The NHL is hard enough for young players, why make it harder by trying to have them succeed in a vacuum with sub par line mates?
Lol, I'm sure they would.Tampa fan said they'd do 1st and a 2nd and Sheary for Rakell at 50%.
