The Jarry signing looks worse and worse each day.

This is not a case of hindsight - many questioned this signing at the time dumbass decided to extend Jarry.

Well there's like a 50/50 chance with goalies when projecting if they'll be good or bad. People gloating about winning a coin toss is kinda lame.

A lot of people also said we should have re-signed Ned, and that he's the answer. They said he's way better than Jarry. They were wrong.
They put up very similar numbers and always have since being the tandem.

Both .886 atm. Both disposable trash.

Time to start praying to whatever higher power you believe in that he gets claimed. Unlikely but still looking for that miracle.

Why? It has no real impact to a team destine to fail. Which should have been the mission all along.

This is just trading deck chairs on the Titanic. They just never realized they were sinking soon enough to get better draft capital.

And extra $5.35mil in space would be nice...
For what exactly?

They have space, and plan on clearing more with Petts and others. They don't need space because they don't plan on bringing anyone of note in. This is a dumpster fire of a team taking on dumps for profit and everything.

The only thing honored is Crosby is comfy with Rak, Rust, Tang and Karlsson. The rest is left to ruin.

So when exactly do we find out if he went claimed or not?

I'd rather have the cap space and not need it then need it and not have it....

...especially when it's being spent on a goalie that I have zero faith in and can use the roster spot for a younger guy to get some experience.

I'm looking too far ahead and am far too optimistic for the bottom six next year, but a mix of:

Hallander
Lizotte
Ponomarev
Poulin
Gruden
Glass
Hayes
Tomasino

Seems relatively cheap (minus Hayes) and hungry. Could also throw in Broz and Koivunen too but I see them as more middle six (yes there's an overlap).

Imagine the 2029 3rd round picks we can amass!!!!

They can bury him and save 1.150 or they can buy him out. Nobody seems to want him, and they are pretty much stuck with Dubas's own error of which he's made a lot of that have piled up.

What about the 10.0 for Karlsson? They'll have to eat 30% to 50% to move him. They would be out of Petry, Granlund and Ruuta's contracts after this year, and loss of the 1st.

Just terrible dominos falling....

....and? I'd still rather not be paying Jarry $5.whatever million.

That's what he's doing now, nickel diming mediocre picks.

I'd rather they put cap space to where Jarry wasn't so left to rot, but that clearly isn't happening. The team has been on a pretty significant nosedive in Jarry's time. So, I don't get all the animosity towards him of an issue completely out of his control.

You know what they say, you get out of it what you put into it, and they have been taking out and taking out and not putting the good back in for years.

i mean the nosedive maybe feels a bit different if jarry doesnt give away the game in 2ot of a gigantic game. thats a colossal blunder entirely of his own making and it wasnt the only one. he wasnt a passenger in the penguins decline, but a consistently inconsistent contributor to it

Only so much can be blamed on Sullivan and the defense in front of him. Jarry has been awful on his own. Maybe he turns it around somewhere. I don't really care. Good luck to him if he gets claimed. There's no reason for the Pens to be paying him this much no matter what their plan is.

Of a team knowingly known for leaving their goaltender out to dry. That's pretty concerning for ones not known to be in the top 5 percentile of the elite.

It's like any young Newby, you have to max protect, not keep driving north at all costs, always. Even when they are not pushing north, their d-zone coverage is deplorable.

Eventually any goaltender is going to break down.

not going for the jarry apologia, the screwups also happened years ago on a much better team. he was always wildly inconsistent and that’s on him.

Still laughing at how smug everyone was about Dubas and the Plan just 4 months ago.
No one knows shit about how the plan will turn out. It's like a 10+ year project, if Dubas gets re-signed.
We're at the 1.5 year mark.
Standings results in the first 2 years are meaningless, since they were write-offs before he made a move.

Not gonna stand here and say he's done brilliantly, but they are shitty conditions here and it's way too early to draw conclusions on how all this will turn out.

i think dubas looks like hes doing a better job now than he was 4 months ago because the trades all look better and he was pragmatic enough to move on relatively quickly from the jarry mistake.
