Jarry has been terrible this year. It's a shame he's fallen so far. Ironically, he's the right starter if we want to tank. Right move to waive him if the goal is winning.

So to play devil's advocate for a moment: Obviously the TJ contract is a disaster. What could the Pens have done differently apart from not signing him?

Looking back on it the goalies that had good seasons since then and got signed that year are:

Cam Talbot
Dave Rittich

Unless I'm missing anything I think that's about it lol. UFA-wise the other big goalie signings like Korpisalo and Jones ended up being terrible.

I guess in retrospect looking back at it the Pens should have gone with a vet on a 1 or 2 year deal and just hoped for the best. Or explored the trade market.

They should have offered Jarry the same money but for only 2-3 years. If he said no then they should have wished him well. It's not hard, goalies are fungible except for a few.

And they should have never resigned Ned at the price they did. He sucks, I said it all off season that he should not have been signed for more than league min/whetever the max is to send a guy down without cap cost. Then they could have easily have sent him down and brought up Blomqvist.

Now they have two goalies that suck and are even signed for next season. Which is ridiculous.

Whatever is wrong it’s in his head. He lost confidence or the ability to give a crap.
Staring down the double barrel nightly will do that...

Onto the next goalie to break and blame for all the teams piss poor play.

TJ probably doesn't re-sign if they only offer him 2-3 years. I'm certain someone on the FA market would have given him what he got or close to it.

Probably they should have just bid adieu to TJ and hoped that a cheap vet gave them a season or two of competent play.

Only if we had any shot of winning anything in these seasons. As it is these goalies are helping us tank.

Unintentionally, of course but I will take it.

I admit that I didn't hate the Ned signing but ONLY because I (stupidly) assumed that it meant a TJ departure was inevitable.

In retrospect it was just another moronic, baffling decision to toss on the ever-increasing pile of them.

What are you going to do if they start winning games? Admit you are wrong?

By all accounts Jarry is a total dumbass who is also a dick and he's been one of the worst goalies in the league.

The team obviously likes Ned. You don't leave a shitbird like that in the room.

Yet, the other two are just as bad under the same circumstance, so I'll admit nothing because, so far, I'm fricking right.

Blom being the best percentage guy in far less games (8 to 20+) is not some sound qualifier when they all are over 3.0/3.0+ GAA. Jarry at least climb out of is starting 6.0 to lead them all.

This team needs quality not quantity and they are right where they deserve to be. Scratch that, they actually should be bottom 5.

Of course he won't get claimed. Did you forget he was already waived once this season and hasn't exactly proven anyone wrong since then?
