Loving Lindholm on that line - keyed on him the games I went to last couple of weeks and his game is right there

Pasta drives the line but it fits like a glove - going to check the sites when they are updated tomorrow to see if my view supports this

Joe I’m sure will keep these guys together next season

Lindholm finish close to 50 points after injured first day of camp, playing for that shit bum quitter Monty, and breaking his left middle finger in Utah game

Nice recovery
Joe ain’t keeping shit together next season……except for maybe his golf game.

Unless he gets a college coaching gig.

I'm hoping the Bruins can pump & dump Mittelstadt like MTL/Monahan or SJ/Granlund. Would be crazy value to get a first out of the Coyle deal if they can do that.

Only guy I see out to lunch enough to take #11 without retention and giving say a 5th round pick is Guerin. Otherwise you are looking at minimum $1M retention and attaching a 4th round pick. I would do that if it meant being able to be bringing in Tavares and Marchand.

Sacco, Sweeney and Neely should all be gone, if you want to rebuild correctly.
Sweeney and Neely have jobs for life. If Sullivan doesn’t get fired your choices are Leech, Donato, or Pandolfo. I guess there’s an outside chance it’s Sacco but I can’t see Sweeney going with an unknown to him and Neely, preferably a former teammate.

I agree with you, what would it take, to start a conversation, with Yzerman? we have one slightly used goaltender, and think Detroit would relish that, and would certainly understand, the Bruins must add. Let's not get all pissy about this conversation, I know it won't happen but, sometimes I like to do a "what if" always liked Larkin.

I am a big Larkin fan but I don't see any remotely realistic route Larkin is involved in a trade with Boston. There is no established true #2C on Detroit. Kasper looks very promising but counting on him actually being a PO level #2C is something Yzerman isn't doing.

Oh , I agree I just throwing it out there, but let's be honest Detroit and their GM, as to make some decisions. I might add just for my crazy mind working overtime, but with Larkins, which is similar to Lindholms, you could add a Marner type with the cap space you have available. I know many want to tank and that has been accomplished for this year now they fans are talking about a similar type season next year to get Mc Kenna, why do we keep Pasta then wasting his career, let him go win somewhere and I am not proposing that, but if you are going to tank then, think about it.

The problem with trading a #88 level talent, they usually have NMC clauses. So right away you're not going to be able to deal him to about 24 teams. So those 8 teams are usually right at the cap and more than likely won't be able to be willing to trade equal value.

Now with Larkin, Detroit isn't going to tank, so they are still going to take back equivalent salary in a deal, so why wouldn't they just sign a Tavares and keep Larkin and say not resign Kane?

Not sure if serious?
But if the season would have been just last 5 games he would have had a stellar year. This guy sucks, no doubt about that.
Just an expensive version of CC.
I won't go as far as to say he sucks, but I will say he is not what he was signed to do. Cannot blame the signer, this is on the signee.

I think that this guy is going to have a turnaround next year. I think he comes back on day 1 same page as everyone else in a new system. I think he is healthier and I believe he earns one of the top two center roles either as the defensive anchor on Pasta's line or as a 2C. If he is the 2C, I wonder if we might not go with a more stringent defensive system where his wingers have some skill but more importantly both play a 200' game, where this line could matchup against any number 1 line in the league and make there life hell. In that world we need more talented players on the 3rd line and for Pasta and Geekie to keep scoring at their 2025 pace.

Can’t blame the signer? He’s the one who coveted him for the previous 2 years and pursued him through free agency and ultimately gave him that contract, so yes you can.

What do you base base these assertions on? Elias Lindholm is the 31st highest paid center in the NHL right now according to a quick scan of the league's top salaries.

He also has the Bruins 5th most PK time and has the worst shorthanded GA/60 on the team aside from Lohrei and the ghost of Hampus Lindholm, so I'm not sure how he's remaining a "top" anything.
The benchmark for contracts changes constantly, there are young 1C's who signed right out of their ELCs like Jack hughes or Nick Suzuki who are 9-10 or 10+ Mil a year players. Tage Thompson is another example at 7-8 mil.

Those deals were signed at different points in those players careers and different times relative to the flat cap era. The going rate for a mid aged (~28-32yo) 2C as a UFA is definitely between 7-8.5.

Guy who averages 40-50 points per season is not 2C in todays NHL. They guy has had only two seasons where he got over 70 points. 4 seasons over 50 points. If those are 2nd C stats, then Frank Vatrano is next to Pavel Bure...

The center ranked 45th in points this year has 51 points. That’s a mid-2C.

Elias Lindholm is the 54th ranked center for points with 46.

Doing the exercise of "who is penciled in" next year and woof is this roster wide open:

Geekie - Lindholm - Pasta
Xxxx - xxxx - xxxxx
xxxx - Minten - xxxx
xxxx - Kastellic - xxxx

Lindholm - McAvoy
Zadorov - xxxx
Lohrei - Peeke

Swayman
Korpisalo

The only one I'm going out on a limb for is Minten because I think he's passed the eye test of being a NHLer and I like his size. I want to see a full season of him at 3C and see what that looks like. I hope Khusnutdinov and Lysell could capture 3rd line roles as well, but they haven't done enough to be given a spot next year. Lindholm is just locked into that line because of his contract for better or for worse.

Everything else I'm open too any guy capturing a spot on this roster in camp. Get the highest pick you can and only target impact guys in free agency (IE Marner or Ehlers). Don't care about anyone else in Free Agency really.. If Hall or Marchand want to come back for the right price.. Sure I guess. This roster needs to find younger, impact players and move forward though.

Im not saying he played like a 2C this year, Im saying he wasn't signed for 1C money.

Zacha's not penciled in but Kastelic & Minten are?

Kastelic won't be playing center here next year. 4th line RW taking face-offs on his strong side.
