Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Shhhh, we are pretending that didn’t happen. If that’s what it was then we may need to hold the GM responsible
I’m with you

A bridge connects two land masses

The Tobin bridge was built in 1948 and is two miles long and connects Saugus to Boston

2023-24 connects 2022-23 to 2024-25

I apologize last season was a bridge and Don Sweeney needs to acknowledge this

This is just a guestimate

Boston could possibly end up with another 5 - 10 points. Of course zero is always possible, but so are unexpected upsets - for any team.

Teams lower than Boston and an estimate of how many more points they could possibly get based on schedule.
( ) = points behind or ahead of Boston morning of 3/28/25

( 0 ) Pittsburgh: 5 - 10 points

( -1 ) Seattle: 4 - 8 points

( -2 )Philadelphia: 6 - 12 points

( -3 ) Buffalo 5 - 10 points

( -7 ) Nashville: 6 - 12 points

Teams currently in front of Boston.

( +1 ) Anaheim: 6 - 12 points

( +3 ) Detroit: 4 - 8 points

( +4 )Columbus: 8 - 16 points

( +5 ) Rangers: 5 - 10 points

( +5 ) Islanders: 5 - 10 points

( +6 ) Utah : 5 - 10 points

( +6 ) Montreal: 6 - 12 points

This is just looking at the bottom 10 teams as of today.

Team in RED are teams the Bruins still have to play. Of these teams, Detroit has the toughest remaining schedule (actually the toughest in the entire NHL). Boston has one of the easier schedules down the stretch compared to the other bottom 9 teams.

If the Bruins lose out, they could potentially get into the top 3

What, approach do you propose? For all that wanted a tear down, and rebuild, look at some of the playoff droughts that are still in progress Buffalo 13 years, and part of that streak they had Jack Eichel, Detroit, 8 years with a Dylan Larkin, Ottawa, 7 years with Brady Thachuk, Anaheim, 6 years with all that young talent. I was against a tear down, or whatever you want to call it, but bottom line, unless Donnie is proactive, we will all suffer, and maybe we will not get to watch Pasta, much longer.
It takes more then the draft to build it but getting high picks sure helps if the GM don't miss on them.

My impression is that there's a plateau at 1-4 (Schaefer, Misa, Hagens, Martone), then one at 4-8 (Desnoyers, Frondell, Eklund, Smith), then 1 or 2 guys with issues (McQueen), and 1 or 2 guys in between (O'Brien), then a hard drop off. I don't think they get into the top 4 unless they win the lottery. Top 8 still gets them a good player. 9-10-11 is a maybe and beyond that would suck. They need to put some regulation L's on the board in this road trip, and hopefully in Anaheim.
This team have really good chance to go down on the 29 spot on standing and easily, they will not win except if a miracle happen til the end...

It is funny looking at the standings and seattle and buffalo could realistic pass us. Buffalo still has 34 games in hand on us. Philly with a new coach bump maybe passes us to? I know its wishful thinking but if we can keep playing like we have been I can keep dreaming.

No first can be traded
While I wouldn’t be in a rush to trade one of their two 2026 first rounders, if you are able to add piece you can keep going forward (Hampus as an example), I would absolutely consider it.

Even more so the Toronto pick.

Yeah, unless you tell me it is a repeat of the 2003 draft class next year, I am not overly worried about dealing a pick that will be in the 20s. If you tell me I can get a legitimate NHL player with term, I'm absolutely willing to deal the toronto #1, i see no real scenario where the Toronto gets you in the top 15.

The Bruins pick I would be very hesitant to trade. I think they make the playoffs and pick in the 15-20 range next year, but there are certainly real scenarios where they stay in the top 10

Top 5 is a real possibility, just hope we don't move backwards in the lottery, even so one of these players should be available. As i feel it drops off considerable after that.

Schaefer
Misa
Hagens
Frondell
Desnoyers
Martone
Eklund
