Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XX

I’ll say this. Sweeney sure did gut the team to tank hard at the end of the year here really well. Think he deserves credit for ripping the bandaid, which many of us were not sure he would/could do.

Agreed. I was hoping he would, but didn't really think it would actually happen. It's a bit painful right now, but hopefully it will be a short decline.

I loved getting rid of the horrible leadership. He also knows he's safe regardless what he does.

This current roster is certainly that of a prolific loser, he did a great job being Tank Commander

If anything he should be fired. Decade with the team, only won multiple playoff series in a season once. Now a bottom feeder due to extremely poor asset management

Chiarelli was fired for much less and in a shorter tenure. Chiarelli took over a much worse team, had more playoff success and his final year the team set a record for most points by a team to not make the playoffs.

If that’s the standard for getting fired Sweeney should be out.

My question is who does he play with?
Would his speed work better with Mittelstadt? I assume he will play RW. Would adding Khusnutdinov on the left provide will too much speed and not enough defensive play? I think this is how they should go. The reason for the call up was that Fabian is playing a better 200 foot game. Let’s see it with other players who have engines that fly like his.

Geekie - Zacha - Pasta
Khusnutdinov - Mittelstadt - Lysell
Koepke - Lindholm - Lettieri
Lauko - Kastelic - Brown
Beecher

Looking at this lineup - it has to be good for a top 10 pick.
Geez…
Top 5 easy

Stop being so spoiled. Getting past round two once in a decade is cause for celebration. Losing to teams in the play-offs you are posed to lose to is cause for celebration. Losing to teams in the play-offs you are posed to beat is also cause for celebration.

Sweeney did a good job here. His teams haven't done anything in five years and is now an albatross Time to go, shake hands and get a new guy/gal. Let someone from the outside assess the organization and players and make decisions. Nothing personal, just business

I would rather sign a bunch of 1 year guys that I could flip next deadline for more assets.

Great, it's the NHL, who are you going to sign to 1 year deals? Basically that brings you down to the Shattenkirk, Van Reimsdyck level of player. I can't imagine this board if July 1 comes and goes and the Bruins sign 5 washed up players on 1 year deals and nothing else.

Heck they couldn't convince Marchand to consider less than 3 years.

There is no being spoiled as a bruins fan. One Stanley cup in 50 years. It’s closer to a statistical anomaly actually considering how many teams are in the league.

Going a decade of only winning multiple playoff series once is not “a cause for celebration” by any means.

It's one of those things where you hear the names and you remember liking them in the draft year and stuff, but Mittelstedt 5v5 is just awful. Joker is a non factor. Like Marat as a bottom 6.

They really have a lot of work to do, it's not as simple as Lindholm and McAvoy coming back.
Not even sure if Lindholm can make it back and if he does, will there be a drop off.

I think our expectations of what happens in free agency has been messed up because of the last 5 years. These vets that were forced into 1 year deals at short money with a flat cap won’t have that issue anymore.

Patrick Brown and Lettieri on waivers. Making room for college free agent(s)?

Don't worry. The concubine that is Patrick Brown will probably still be around playing for us for the next 10 years.

Lysell apparently was sent down too. One on hand I'm happy he's back on a team with something to play for and the vibes are not depressing.

On the other hand, I wish he could get a longer look. But this organization is what it is.
