Centers at the Draft
If the season ended today Bruins would draft 12th, and the Ducks 7th. Ducks have two games in hand and are only 3 points back. This bodes well for chances at moving towards a better 1st round pick. That said, we can’t analyze in a vacuum. Many of the teams between us and them are likely to sell pieces, and potentially ones more impactful to their current play than our UFAs Sweeney said wouldn’t be tendered and therefore more likely to go before next week. If Sweeney doesn’t make any big sell moves like Marchand, Geekie, Carlo, we are probably going to move to the 9th/10th position while other teams “complete to tank” against us.
Ignoring the lottery aspect, you may get really lucky and see Frondell available, O’Brien more likely, and Carter Bear most likely at that position for center prospects. With larger names moving out like Marchand and Carlo and Geekie, maybe you can get down low enough to that 7 spot the Ducks currently have to see Desnoyers name still on the board. Jack Nesbitt seems to have a range for where he is ranked, and could be a great big body center available if we get another 1st round pick from trades. If not, Blake Fiddler could be there with a late first as a hulking right D.
