Schenn probably not waiving to come here

We'd probably have to bribe him by bringing Luke in as well. Just so happens this team could use a 3RD as well so from a fit perspective it works. Money and assets possibly/probably not.

I also think some of the stink is off this team and being able to play with Luke and Brady (among others) might be enticing enough to consider it.

I'm usually one of the first to say "X won't come to Ottawa because of NTC" but for some reason my gut is telling me the Schenn's wouldn't automatically dismiss the Sens because Canada/small market (could have been the Chinese I had for lunch though).

If I am St. Loo I would keep Schenn over Perron and Amadio for the same money
I would be looking to get a 1st, a player and a good prospect kind of deal .. vs an aged out vet and a 3rd line winger
They would trade him to start a retool

The GM there said the offer has to be a good one to bring to Schenn to ask him to waive.

wonder what he would cost but this is the perfect winger for timmy. He at the perfect age, buddies with timmy, plays on the wing and is a true top 6 forward.

1st plus Ostapchuk?

we really ain’t got shit to trade.
Maybe Greig + something (Ostapchuk?) for Peterka? After all, Greig was drafted ahead of Peterka, so he must be more valuable! This is a no-brainer for Buffalo! We can throw in Bourgault, since he's better than Jarventie (we added a pick to get him), and Jarventie was also drafted ahead of Peterka.

I can't see them moving Greig. He played a much bigger role since late December, and he is cost controlled at what is going to quickly become a very good number now that we know the cap is going to shoot way up.

We can't give up a first and set ourselves up to be Duchene'd again. Especially if there is any remote chance Tkachuk will be moved this summer, the last thing the fanbase needs is the negative dynamic of watching our unprotected pick all season.

Peterka will also cost 4M-5M on a bridge deal, or more long term. With our current cap situation, that makes it difficult to justify because it means we have to lose a piece somewhere else. It's two steps back.

Batherson for Peterka, or Batherson for assets and those assets for Peterka might make sense. I just can't see us giving up our first.
We have the means to sign Peterka to a long term contract

Batherson for Peterka or Tuch straight up

I think the only two players we have that realistically match Buffalo’s needs are Pinto and Zub. You’d have to add to Zub and we have nothing to add, nor the RD depth to do that, and the Sens wouldn’t move Pinto imo.

I don’t think we are good trade partners.

in the off season, I could see them moving Zub.

If they can find another RD sure. But barring that I don’t think we can move him.

Hamonic, JBD, Matinpalo, Jensen (only 1 year left on his contract)… we have no stability there even accounting for Yakemchuk.

They might have been talking about Ceci, but I don't think he would be available this soon after they acquired him.
Stars need him

One of my made up sources claimed to find a Gabriels napkin with Soucy, Hoglander, and VAN 2nd for Norris and FLA 3rd written on it.

It did have grease on it, so it could just be a leftover from when Dorion was the GM.

Haven't checked in with Ridley Greig on Twitter to confirm.
I hate that proposal not the first time I’ve seen it

Weak GMs create tough times.

Dorion created this situation.

Cupboards are bare
We really have to make the playoffs. It would do wonders for our upcoming offseason. Only 16 playoff teams in the league, and players want to play for good teams. We have empty cupboards now, but that's not so much of an issue if we're a destination players want to sign with.

Like we got Giroux for free. Imagine if we had a few more signings like that?

Novel idea to consider what a prospective trading partner might need as the first step. ;)
