The best thing that could happen to the Bruins would be to lose 4 or 5 of the next 6 games before the deadline so they can stop lying to themselves and the fans that they are still in playoff contention.
Yes and he is older but the same logic would apply to McAvoy, damaged shoulders at that cap hit. The problem is the league knows about these injures, so who will give them a fair deal.I was GM,I would try as hard as I could to move Hampus when he gets back and shows he can play again. That knee will only get worse as time goes by and the miles get added to it.,,,,,,,,,,,...Just looked ,,,He has a nmc next season forget it ..lol Sweeney gives everyone control.
"Healing process has gone well and he'll have no setbacks moving forward, but it's going to take more time for him to heal naturally so we decided it's more constructive for him to not continue to push the way he had been pushing and allow it to heal more naturally."Is Hampus being shutdown when he seemed to be so close a sign that management is heading down one path or has recovery gone wrong for Hampus?
Obviously hoping it’s the former
The ... is doing a whole lot of work in your post."We will look at all opportunities to improve our team now ..."
Ugh. If this clown adds anyone older than 22ish, he should be shown the door.
On the deadline...
"Historically we've been pretty aggressive when our team's been in position, [this time] I think we'll take a much more cautious approach. That being said if there are opportunities to improve our team now and certainly moving forward, we would look at all opportunities to improve our team now and more importantly moving forward. "
Asked if that means he'd be willing to trade away players on the roster he prattled on but basically said yes.
The only time he spoke plainly was on the 4 Nations and how great it was and what a great experience he had.
Yeah, it's gross. I defend his performance but I don't understand his need to be so cagey and guarded. All fans want to hear is the plan. Why make the media sift through all the jargon to get down to... we're going to re-tool? Is it so the players don't figure out you're throwing up the white flag? If the media can figure it out so can the players, and everyone is going to know in less than 2 weeks. He's slippery in the press conferences which is why I don't listen to him. He never says anything definitive when it comes to the team and always leaves himself an out or some kind of plausible deniability.

Don don't you dareDont the bruinas have an extra 6 million now with hampus out long term? If so add for the playoff run.
Come on wildcard 2 and play the caps. Let's go! I wanna see playoffs.Don don't you dare
He’s not to get up and say we’ve quit on the season and we’re having a fire sale.Yeah, it's gross. I defend his performance but I don't understand his need to be so cagey and guarded. This shit irks me to no end. Maybe that's why he does it.
With Hampus shut down, it would be really interesting to see if they could potentially 'weaponize' their cap space for the remainder of the year.
Put Hampus and McAvoy on LTIR and then taking expiring bad contracts on for draft pick compensation. Who that would be I'm not sure. Definitely an avenue I would explore though.
This is a golden ticket to tank for one year then come back next year with hopefully a great prospect.
he also said all the GM's know which position each one is taking this deadlineHe’s not to get up and say we’ve quit on the season and we’re having a fire sale.

Or they could do a smart thing and use that cap space to add more future assets.Dont the bruinas have an extra 6 million now with hampus out long term? If so add for the playoff run.
“We will look at all opportunities to improve our team now but even more importantly moving forward,” said Sweeney.Sweeney said no paths for the other UFA other than Marchand who will either be re-upped or traded the next two weeks.
Freddy gone. Brazeau gone / sent down. Seems like the window is into the summer for the RFA but would move them for similar players.
I personally think he would jump at the chance to move Coyle as well
I thought it was a good presser from Don, clearly not buying
