I’m not opposed to moving Carlo, but I do wonder how much of his struggles stem from having bad coaches with a terrible system.
Even if Carlo was nails, a bonafide stallion this season, I think it only further makes the case to capitalize. No sense in having this many summer pony’s if their owners can only ride in the winter.

I don’t disagree with your sentiment though.

I want to trade him for a potential upgrade. I like him, but without Pasta he is the same third liner he was in Carolina, Seattle and for 20 games here. As for trending up, I would say 20ish goals is his ceiling.
only way to do that is in a package ....if not you are hoping to bring in what he already is

he is at 18 already

And if he asks for 5.5x6? 6x5?
Both can be true. But depending on what he wants from his next contract, which I’d imagine Sweeney already knows, and really is terrible at his job if not, a line must be drawn. For me, that number is probably 4.5mil, but lower when I see the offers roll in.

Remove Pasta, and we don’t have a single good top 6 line combo right now to match up against a great team. We desperately need some higher octane skill/scorers/playmakers/ whatever. You move Geekie, a bottom 6 player for any high chance contender out there, so you can start rebuilding your top. Whether that’s to score firsts you use to trade for those types, or scoring firsts that are higher than yours already (larger package needed obvs) to draft those types.

I’d rather the 2026-2027 Bruins have a league threatening top 6 and dumpster fire bottom 6, than whatever coasting mentalities are being thrown around.
Unfortunately 4 quarters is not going to get us a dollar

But it could be anything. Maybe even a boat.
a fishing kayak? hmmmmmm

Trade geekie and carlo to Columbus for sillinger or del bel Belluz

Call up lysell and let let him play with brad and elias.

See if Winnipeg will give a prospect like colby Barlow for Freddy and brazeau.

Please trade Coyle for anything close to a second or third.

Play out the season.

If I'm Sweeney I'm trading Carlo and Coyle . The question is when? Would they get more value at the trade deadline or at the Draft/ Summer when teams can go over the Cap?
Don’t know how long McAvoy will be out but if he goes on LTIR, the Bruins can take an expiring contract back if that possibility is there. At least it’s an option, team and match could be a problem though.

I like Geekie. He looked like the most dangerous forward out there last night.

I also remember needing a PKE meter to find him the first two months of the season.

He is an almost ideal sell high guy. Young, hard working third liner with some experience and enough talent to play up a line or two, but he is what he is in the end. You will get some value for him as general managers value high work rate and finishing.
Love his attitude and think he honestly likes it here, but he benefits greatly from Pasta. If I can get a first rounder or good prospect, I will drive him to the airport if not his next home arena.

He’s a guy I’d keep, not because I think he’s a first line, 27 goal guy, but because I think he’s a high end third line/low end 2nd line guy who can score 20 and fill in a line above and still produce.

Plus, I think his next deal is affordable especially with the cap going up and I think we all hope/expect that they add at least 2 top 6 forwards next year and he gives them flexibility.

With that being said, like with anyone aside from Pasta, if you get an offer too hard to pass up, I won’t be crushed if he’s moved.

I would love to hear the clarity of that information, LTIR always confuses my brain

I don’t think there’s a coach in the world who can improve his puck skills at this stage if his career.

He’s absolutely useless, nay, detrimental to the team with the puck on his stick.

Carlo and Coyle would have more value at the draft/offseason.

Not a lot of teams have the cap space right now to fit Coyle. He's also having a down year, so he may have negative value especially at his cap hit. When the cap goes up in the offseason, Coyle with 1 year left would be more attractive to teams that may need #3C help.

With Carlo, it would be better to see what you can get when every team in the league has the ability to make their offer. He is having a down year, but top 4RD with shutdown capabilities are a hot commodity.

But, you’re saying this from a measured, unattached position with nothing on the line.

GM’s, if not today, within a week will be looking at things from a variety of lenses, including but not limited to:

Can they help us make the playoffs?
Can they help us win a round?
Can they help us legitimately contend?

As well as, can we afford them?

The deadline often makes people do things they wouldn’t otherwise do.

Say a team out there is interested in Coyle or Carlo but don’t have the cap space because John smith is making 7 mil a year but his contract runs out at the end of the season. By the Bruins putting Mac on LTIR they can now take on that bad contract( John smith) so the said team can now make the deal for a Coyle or Carlo. Of course this would also up the return the Bruins would get.

It can be done but everything would have to fall into place, but trading an expiring contract like Marchand/Tfred to a cap strapped team and being able to retain a good portion of their salary because CMac is on LTIR would be a more likely scenario.

Bruins could always retain but have nothing to replace his minutes.I highly doubt Sweeney moves him myself.Cant wait to see the mess he makes of this draft and off season. It feels like watching the family dog digging a hole in the backyard.

How have we gone from "Lindholm is back skating in a regular jersey and will probably be ready to go after the break" to "He's likely done for the rest of the year" in the matter of a week? Seems to me that there was never any hope of him coming back in the first place and we just got strung along lol

With Hampus shut down, it would be really interesting to see if they could potentially 'weaponize' their cap space for the remainder of the year.

Put Hampus and McAvoy on LTIR and then taking expiring bad contracts on for draft pick compensation. Who that would be I'm not sure. Definitely an avenue I would explore though.

This is a golden ticket to tank for one year then come back next year with hopefully a great prospect.
