Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XV

Only way to get a top #1 is pick in top two

Or

Get lucky as shit

Bruins fans need to get in reality

They want a magical GM & #1 center to appear

Best to take a half dozen years off learn to play an instrument, volunteer at a shelter, get off their parents phone plan, check in each June and see if Bruins are picking 1 and there is a McDavid, Crosby, Matthews and not a Yakamov, Slafkovsky, Power, or Bedard are there

They hate Fluto
Doesn't mean they cannot use him as a tool.

I am with @LouJersey in terms of what a retool should look like. There is not need to tear it down to the studs, here. The defense and goaltending are fine overall. Mac, Lindholm, Zadorov, Peeke, Lohrei are fine, and of course Swayman. The forwards is where the changes need to happen: more speed, skill, and preferably youth or relative youth. For me I move out Frederic, Carlo, and Coyle if possible, and move/let go of Braz, Koepke, Beecher, and Wahlstrom. Korpi can be moved over the summer to free up some more cap. Geekie gets resigned.

In this scheme, you can move Elias to RW if a center can be brought in, otherwise, a skilled play driver for that 2RW. Alternatively, you move Lindholm to 3C and Poitras to 2C for next season if he's ready. Other spots? A puck mover for 2RD, and the rest from Providence, whoever comes back in trades etc. Re-tool done. The big question is not if this is doable, but whether Sweeney will, or if he's the right person to do it.

I would trade an unprotected 2025 first round pick for the right player. I don't know what that would get you but I would explore it.

I would trade it even more so if Don Sweeney is the GM making the selection if the pick is kept.

Its time to start restocking those bare cupboards. When you are playing players steady that bring nothing and cannot call anyone up to do better, then u have a serious lack of talent in the system. As for the last part about Sweenious ,that scares me I must admit.

I say this because of Pastrnak age. I would look at acquiring a #1C if available by dangling an unprotected 1st. Has to be the right age of course.

I just took a deep dive over last 2-3 days on the Bruins situation as relates to roster, cap, prospects etc

I look at this as bottom forward lines (6-8 players) and defense (2-4 players) the way my mother would outfitting our house - which was fantastic.

It’s just good eye for sales, creativity, and style / how you want to build it

The 2011 Bruins bottom 8 (6F & 2D) were all relatively cheap adds who could spruce up a team the way you want

Where me and you veer off is Lindholm. He’s probably going to get 45 points but I see him long term jumping up into 60 area ~ i know he’s been playing injured for 2-3 months

It comes down to really 9 spots

You want 5 really good F and 3 really good D ~ and a top goalie

Tampa has crushed my formula

The Bruins do have 3/4 of a foundation and they are locked up and there contracts are going to age very very well

They have 25 M in money and all their big guys signed

Excuse me for laughing when I read McAvoy, Pastrnak, Swayman and even Hampus Lindholm are overpaid ~ just wait till 27 and check back

Bruins have money and as the Athletic said they are a destination

The retool will be quick ~ they should be in the playoffs next season

I’m messing with people here but in reality the foundation is solid

As for prospects they could be better but they are adding Lohrei & Poitras

Geekie & Zacha, Sweeney stole or is it stollen

Im very optimistic ~ I’m cool, cool, cool with a top 10 pick this summer but I expect them at 100 points next season

I don't see anyone trading the Bruins a young enough # 1 centre for a 1st where the Bruins are picking .Again,I have been wrong plenty of times so we shall see soon.

Your optimism just flows through your post, as a matter of fact, i think it even glows through your post. Keep up the positivity, you will be healthier for it. maybe it will have a good effect on the rest of these posters, you might even be known as what's that guy's name all over the TV, I got it Tony Roberts, I think someone like that.

I don't think anyone is giving up a #1 center for a middling pick in a mediocre draft.

Now if you are packaging the #1, and one of our tradeable assets to a contender to a high end 20 year old, who might become a #1, maybe but a long shot

It’s for this reason I’m dealing pasta - makes no sense to keep him when his greater value is restocking

We got our cup, we got two other tries - it’s time for a new era

Side note you can hold this opinion without disrespecting a hall of fame bruins with by calling him stupid, unimaginative names
I respect this opinion, would be a bold choice. But Pasta is too good in my opinion to give up on.

I like it, but do the Bruins have anyone who would waive to go to Calgary?
I forgot about that.

Marchy - 8 team NTC (although I believe they should ask him if he wants a trade)
Zacha - 10 team NTC
Carlo - 10 team NTC
Korpisalo - 10 team NTC (his agent, by the way, is a f***ing god apparently)

Coyle has an 8 team modified NMC
E Lindholm has an NMC (see comment on Korpisalo's agent above)

That's the template I'd be working with, although I'd shift Kastelic to RW. His defensive awareness isn't good enough to play C and I'd rather have him first man in on the forecheck anyways.

Peeke and Marchand are on my trade block however.

So, would you trade Carlo? If so, that's a big hit on the RD (Carlo and Peeke).

Marchand easily gets a first in a weak draft year, Fluto is crazy if he thinks otherwise.
Things is some of the teams that are interested in Marchand don't have a 1st this year which I feel is great as I like the 2026 draft better.
NHL Rumor Mill – February 11, 2025 | Spectors Hockey
The sources mentioned the Colorado Avalanche, Vegas Golden Knights, Edmonton Oilers, Dallas Stars, and Minnesota Wild as possible suitors.
All five teams lack a first-round pick in this year’s draft.

Given what we know about this draft, I might prefer a 2026 first (knowing nothing about the 26 draft)

If it's Colorado give me the 2027 because they will be good again next season 😆

In the right situation I'd trade both. I would need to find at least 1 capable right-shot D-man between the deadline and start of next season to be able to move both out. I'm not married to either of them.

Nice post. For me I go after the best prospects you can get. Coyle and Freddie at 1/2 retained could net you a nice piece. Carlo involved will up the value. Take back salary for this year and next if need be.

Is that a bad wow or a good wow, because I was only kidding with him.

Yes the patriots would never hire a bunch of former players from the good old days to run things ;).

I think that’s a great start. The rub is that you really need another high end forward to pair with Pasta and someone to anchor the other line in the top 6 and I dunno where those come from.

A different animal as in Jacobs doesnt seem to care about team success only money

While Kraft wants success and to be in the HOF
