I think you missed the point a little bit, Crouse is a start to fill out this roster with someone who can help this team, is he the big fish that you know, but a 20 goal scorer with everything I mentioned is a start to putting a team together, I am tired of watching the Brazeau, Tyler Johnson , and other pick up. The big fish you want and need is probably unlikely until offseason, and a Crouse contract give you more room to go get that big fish.

Problem being, who's going to want are turtles, Sweeney done such a masterful job of building this team that imo the only direction he can go, is sell players off of any value. Coyle,Carlo,and Marchand maybe Tfred. This team needs an overhaul.Perfect. Bye bye
No I didn't miss your point and Id take Crouse but at what price ? Utah not going to give him away and what do the Bruins have to offer that wouldn't be better off used elsewhere?

My take:
Sweeney & Neely know they are sellers and have for quite awhile. Bruins metrics across the board are awful - special teams, goal differential, etc. Mirrors don’t lie and reality is a tough pill to swallow for 2 guys who have appeared more arrogant than humble since they jointly took over.
Like everyone I’ve been perplexed on lack of ‘changes’ like bringing up Lysell & Merkulov to inject life into the offense. But the problem is to put someone in, you gotta take someone out. This is the quandary with the trade bait crew - Freddy, Brazeau, Coyle etc. The kids need REAL NHL ice time to show their potential but the trade candidates have to also keep playing to up (or maintain) value on returns. Poitras as new in permanent C over Coyle is the first domino and I would guess when bodies are moved out the other 2 will *finally* get their chance.
Sweeney & Neely are not asleep, they’re evaluating and trying to squeeze juice out of rotting lemons soon to get jettisoned. This is not to paint them as shrewd: it’s the opposite, actually. I truly believe they have no idea on what they need for a future NHL caliber offense. Their so-called “plan” to replace Bergy & Krejci with duct tape and prayers finally has sunk them. Pretty sad to drive over the cliff when road signs told you the road ended miles ago.
We’ll see who goes / who stays and which players get roles (AHL and incoming trades).
This Bs braintrust has backed the team into a corner dangerously teetering the mediocrity line. I can’t imagine the architects of this product are the ones capable to reverse the ship.

Hagens, Misa, Frondell, Desnoyers and maybe McQueen.
Schaefer and Martone are expected to go in the top4, so 2 of those 5 centers should be there at 6.

I worry that this thread is accurate and that DS will either tinker a little and bring in yet another third liner or - even worse- overpay for a Zegras type moon shot acquisition
Neither are what this team needs - it needs a systematic re-tooling.
Step one is being active between now and the trade deadline
-dealing any ufa that they can't immediately sign
-selective trades where truly Cup competitive teams will pay a premium to fill a gap with a player like a Coyle/Carlo
-bringing up Providence players not named Brown for a true 7-10 game stint to assess what their future role- if any- is with the team
Step two is the off-season and using available cap space ( both the cap increase and space created by trades) to bring in a true top six talent and a third/fourth liner with " attitude"
Step three is changing the draft 'vision" from 200 hundred foot players with a high floor to seriously looking at high ceiling/higher risk selections. The league is filled with 200 foot players who can fill out the roster- the differentiating factor is high-end talent

At the minimum Charlie Coyle needs to be traded at the deadline. He’s not good enough in the top six and Poitras should be the 3C going forward.
They might strike gold with it too. Rumor has it the Islanders might resign Brock Nelson. Yannin Gourde is hurt. He becomes one of the premier centers available
If the Bruins retain, I think they can score a 1st or maybe two 2nds from the Devils.

I also think that Bear and O'Brien have top six potential. Its absolutely possible to come away with a great center prospect if they would draft in the top 10.

I just can’t see it, but maybe. He would basically deplete and already depleted prospect pool.
I think he actually realizes he needs to sell and is holding out long enough till their record in the standings justifies it

That's true, and I agree they're both top6 guys. He was asking about the guys that could be ready in a year.
O'Brien could be as good as those guys but he looks like he has to grow into his body.
Bear should have been on that list. And he probably could be available outside the top10.
