I just read the Globe Sunday Hockey Notes and Chara discussing Marchand

Zeroooo point zeroooo he’s recommending trading him

Not sure I love my pets that much
I feel like he will be moved if they are out of it, Its a no brainer.

Culture means way more than people think. He was born to be a Bruin. You keep him.
You give him the option. If he wants another run at a Cup then you package him to a contender .If he is happy with 2011 and wants to stay, well then you keep him around.I agree with the reasonings of the fans who say they should trade him to speed up the rebuild , retool or whatever you call it.That is smart buisness far as icing good teams goes. However,I feel Brad is a Bruins legend and earned the right to finish out here if he chooses .It's a unique situation.

@DominicT what are your thoughts on Cal Ritchie? What's his upside and how soon is he playing in the NHL?

I figure you know him well so I went on your websites and looked up an article on OHL Writers, but it was from 3 years ago.
I think he's put it the work where necessary for the most part.

His hockey IQ is at a very high level, as is his playmaking. He has an NHL shot and my beef with him was that he didn't use it enough in his draft year, and I still believe that. He's averaging .2 shots per game more than his draft year. He's also put in the necessary work to increase his top speed.

I see him as a playmaking center. That's going to be his bread and butter in the NHL. I think he tops out as a middle tier second line center.

Chara not going to come aboard and say you need to trade Marchand or anyone else for that matter. They’re still working on his position /role in the Organization, and when hired Sweeney comments were.
“we believe he can make a positive impact on the organization as a mentor to our players and advisor to our coaching staff." So the last thing he’s going to do is come in and say, “hey Brad I’m going to recommend they trade you”.

He gets a lot of money to "mature". big pass from me.
5.75 mil isn’t that much. He is looking a lot better than pettersson at half the price. I’d be happy to add him. This team has plenty of grit. What it needs is skill. Zegras has a boatload of skill. He has a very high ceiling. And I’m not a huge fan of his. But if the bruins can add him and the price isn’t crazy I don’t see how they don’t pull the trigger.

Be nice to watch Brad on Vegas in June grab a bunch of picks and have him resign here.

It would be great if Brad day with the Cup he brought it to Fanuel Hall to share with us.

lets all meet up infront of the Bell in Hand

The entire Chara stuff is silly

Where do Elias Lindholm and Matt Poitras slot on this team medium to long term?

#2 and #3 centers?

Can you live with Lindholm as your 3?

Can Poitras become your 2? Can you somehow acquire C1?

Someone once said said to compare him to Lowry. Is that a fair assessment?

It seems to me that a lot of what's being said about Zegras was also being said about Reinhart, O'Reilly Dubois, etc. Even Zacha had his 'baggage'.

Character flaws. Effort levels.

But a change of scenery and a new leadership group often lead to kids in their 20's becoming men and accepting responsibility.

If Lindholm can take on defensive matchups on line 3 and chip in 40-50 points like Coyle, I think I can live with him with the salary cap increasing. Not ideal, but really he'll only be overpaid by a mil or two

I'm no fan of Zegras, however the amount of young, offensively talented players that become available is usually pretty small. He has room to grow, and he gives you a much better chance of getting a top 6 forward than whoever you might draft in round 1 this draft, at least IMO. Buy low moves like this are what helps a pick/prospects starved team build their next core

They said on Dom's podcast he was being brought in to consult the coaching staff.

Personally, I think he's here to help with the leadership and culture of the team. He's the guy who turned it around in the first place. He can help get it back in the right direction again (and maybe help maintain it if Marchand goes on a short vacation).

I'm curious if he is watching Harvard and BU with McQuaid, Sweeney and Gold at the moment.

I had heard he would be consulting the coaching staff, then TSN wrote an article about it, and then Sweeney made the comments.

But who knows for sure.

I don't do player comps and no one should really. These kids are not finished products.

That said, I don't see a Lowry comparison

Zacha, Poitras and Lindholm make up a fine middle six C group. But one of them is gonna have to move to wing or be a chip to get a center to slot above them.
