The only asset on this team that will bring a haul is 88. Hate to say it but this management group absolutely ffed the foreseeable future of this team

If they lose today I’m thinking Sweeney at minimum makes a public appearance.

Get some youth in the system, in the age 25ish range who’ve maybe fallen out of favor with their team.

Marchand rental, then returns July 1st would be great. He lands a 1st ++
If Marchand goes to Colorado and clicks with MacKinnon, I would be surprised to see him come back. If he clicks, his main focus for the 2025-26 season will
be making Team Canada for the Olympics, so the Avs would be his best avenue if things went well with Colorado.

Don't think big Haul.Think about one move at a time getting skill and younger. Its going to take time ,luck and astute moves.

Ironic that communication with Anaheim this week just so happen to be when Zegras returned to the lineup

Not sure there’s really anyone else it could possibly be, or thats realistically attainable

Kinda already tried that route this season with jones, tufte, wahlstrom…these first rounders that fall out of favor are typically out for a reason.

If we are re-tooling, and we have plenty of trade fodder in Marchand, Frederic, Coyle, Peeke, and potentially Carlo/Zacha for a Star, then trading for picks and going ahead with using them in a bad draft class doesn’t make much sense. We don’t need 5 Zach Senyshns in return. We also don’t need to trade these guys for more middle 6ers like Geekie (who we still need!) that are touted because they are versatile or “big”. We need speciality talents. Use those players or picks they get for someone that is a bonafide 1st line player. I’m tired of inserting 3rd liners higher into the lineup for the past decade and saying “look, they are on the first line, that makes them a first liner”. That’s how you really wear out your stars, they work harder to score and carry the team rather than a team that can support your stars.

If Rantanen is available July 1, I’m 100% going to the bank up to 13.75 without blinking. After these cap reports for the coming years, you are dumb not to cough up for a player like that if he’s interested. I’ll go for Ehlers and Boeser too, but big fish is what we need to truly create the concept that is “lineup depth”.
Rantanen will have some suitors I’m not sure he’d see the Bruins as a contender.

Ehlers is overrated. He’s a 25G 60 point wing who is rumored to want top line contract. And his playoff stats are atrocious. Boeser is decent. Neither is the play driver this team needs. Not much in the free agency market as far as impact players. Rantanen & Marner. Boeser Ehlers. After that it’s Brock Nelson, Claude Giroux, John Tavares, Matt Duchene etc..

Edit: Initial post had "you're" not "they."

Speech to text. Apologies. Not ragging on anyone here.

I think you are undervaluing Trent Frederic:s value on the market.

For some reason, they (other managers) all in love with his particular "skill set." Never mind that it disappears every other week.

They should be able to get a second round pick and maybe something more.
100%. If they retain and only a pro rated 1.1 mil I could see Washington giving us a first. Likely a 28-32

Anyone else get the feeling like the Rangers are going to now trade Kreider to Boston and get more for him from Boston than what they paid for Miller?
Hey Coach. Please No!

Ok, most deals are done on deadline day. Colorado has already traded both goalies and made the blockbuster rantanen-necas deal. Rangers have made numerous trades so far. Teams that are drastically underperforming and their GMs acted. The frustration is that Sweeney just sits and wastes the season, they couldn’t afford to wait until deadline day. The team has been bad for most of the season.
To be fair, the only deal on that list that was a save-the-season move was Blackwood. So of all the teams on the bubble this season, all desperate to make moves to improve their teams and get into the playoffs and only 1 was able to do it.

I agree that it's frustrating. In the salary cap thread on the main board, I suggested that as the cap goes up they should enforce a 5% buffer that teams have to maintain until the end of October. That would force teams to start the season with ~$5m in cap space, by the end of October, everyone in the league would have the flexibility to make moves in-season that can save their season, and teams wouldn't be stuck waiting until the deadline.

My only thought as to why Lysell and Merkulov aren't up yet, is that the Bruins don't think they will help. Poitras is the most complete player of the three, and he's been hit or miss game to game. Add another rookie, add two, my guess is they think it would lead to very inconsistent play. The brass may have decided this isn't a team you invest in, but the players aren't there yet. Marchand isn't. How or when they break that news I don't know. Maybe it's part of the discussion with Marchy about staying or going?

Marner would be such a clutch add. I doubt the leafs let him walk though. They should offer him a crazy
Contract. Maybe Sweeney can do a little tampering at the 4 nations tournament

Tavares contract expires this summer they’ll let him walk and resign Marner. No brainer. Can’t see B’s paying a RW 13m per to skate on 2nd line behind Pastrnak.

They both deserve a look.
