I have to say here that because it's a bad contract, who is going to claim him from waivers? Who has nearly $8m in cap space to take that on not to mention the term and would even want to? He'd clear, and end up in Providence with a little over $1m buried and a worse player than him taking his spot. Then next season, you have the same problem again.
I'm afraid that we're stuck with the guy unless they make some changes to the buyout rules in the next CBA that make it feasible for a contract of that size and length. I also believe the Bruins will not give up on him just yet. If we are at this same point with him this time next season, then we'll have to pay to get rid of him like we did with David Backes.
