Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XIII

Same can be said about Frederic.

Decide before the TDL. Can’t walk for nothing.

Marchand I let him decide on if he’s staying or going like Dom alluded to. But if he’s staying then you need to get it done.
Frederic is expendable, and I think Boston feels that way as well. Also, he isn't gonna bring you much back. Offer him $3.5 over the summer, and if he doesn't take it, wish him well. He's not worth a penny more.

As for Marchand, its a 2 way street when it comes to loyalty.....Get a deal done now, give him the option to stay, and if we can't agree on terms then he's getting traded. His contract demands aren't going to come down once summer comes around and 30 other teams come calling.

You know, I was busy at work and I didn't get to watch much of the game in depth.

Nor did it occur to me focus on Nikita.

How did he play?
No worries. I thought he played well. Threw 3 or 4 big hits, he defended well, helped kill all their PP's. 20+ minutes, +2.

Tthe Bruins were outplayed for 2 periods but it was one of those games, like Washington at home, where we take away back door plays and cross ice passes and protected the house. Brick said a few times that Swayman didn't really have to make any 'wow' saves.

Thanks for the report card.

Why is today trade a number one defenseman day?
Why not?
Zadorov is +11 and Lohrei (easier mins and match-ups) is -9. Not comparable right now, IMO.
true but for me the Lohrei that took over from Mac has been on par. I chalk it up to he knows he’s in the line up and is playing confident hockey. I still see him as a potential 60 pt D man with the ability to get more.

FWIW and this isn’t to pick on Conor or anyone else running with Franks quote. But when I watched the interview when he said this, it was more to just give a name of a team in the JT miller sweepstakes that at the time wasn’t Carolina or NYR.. I just didn’t feel like it was rumor based more than purely speculative and to throw a name out there.

Then again, how often is it that the player goes to the teams that are being rumored/reported?

I just don't see Lindholm moving as a real possibility. He just signed and has a NMC. I know guys waive but I have a hard time seeing the Bruins ask this soon and I have a hard time seeing Elias want to move his family again after just moving here. Plus, the Bruins would be selling low.

If it were me, I'd give him one more season before I go nuclear. If he really is nursing some injury I shut him down and tell him to take the time he needs to heal so he can come to camp ready to earn his paycheck. If he's still this same player at this time next year all bets are off. I tell him to give me a list of teams or expect to be bought out. Maybe under the new CBA, buyouts won't count against the cap.
Yep you nailed it. He’s been fine along the boards so I don’t think it’s a injury.

Some fans here are extremely temperamental. Just a few weeks back tons of posts clamoring to “trade Pastrnak”. Now he’s got his scoring touch back they’ve moved on to “trade McAvoy”. How about the team just keeps their under 30 cornerstone players. Pastrnak McAvoy Swayman all stay.
My only concern is McAvoy....not a powerplay quarterback thus not a #1 ...been overpaid for years but by the end his contract it's fine for a #2 which is what he really is. I'm a fan because he can destroy with open ice contact

really makes you wonder what some people are seeing.

They just have to defend too often because the forwards are always three steps behind trying to get the puck.
I'd like to see him on PP2, and in a different role...

PP1
Braz
Pasta Geekie Zacha
Lohrei

PP2
Coyle
McAvoy Poitras Marchand
Lindholm

You've got some stars on PP2 so it shouldn't feel like a kick in the teeth to get assigned there. It also keeps the lines together so you can come back with a rested 3rd line, and it puts 2 D out with the second unit so they can just play on when the PP expires.

Do worry about entires with Geekie and Braz on the same unit.

Zadarov is the physical leader on blue line, Lohrei is the offensive leader back there. McAvoy is the stable steady presence. Overpaid? Sure. But not by much

I don
Yeah I personally am just not convinced Geekie is a solidified presence in this top 6- which you may have to pay like he is this offseason. Though again as I said, maybe you get away with paying him less this offseason. But it would probably be shorter term. Not against this scenario.

Trade wise teams would overpay for him not only for his current production but because they also control him as an RFA. He could also be a piece in a bigger trade.

To answer your question and not to be a wise ass but I’m immediately throwing out names like Merkulov/Lysell/Poitras at you. See what you have and regroup this summer.

As I also stated in my post, I’ve seen Geekie mature. His game has improved. Heck, I was the guy defending him earlier in the season when there were a lot of pitchforks out and saying we would all like him a lot more if he wasn’t being force fed into the top 6. Well now he’s found a home with Pasta and Zacha.

But I still wonder how much of that is his improvement, and how much is it from the resurgence of the noodle guy
I don't think it matters. If Geek can put up 25-30 playing with 88 then why trade him for someone we hope can do the same?

Geekie is on pace for 24-18-42. Obviously carrying around a couple months of dogshit too. I don’t think 27-23-50 is out of the question. If you make that slight uptick for recent play…

DeBrusk’s best year was 22-23 - 27-23-50.

It was only in 64 games with the foot but still his best year. His second best year was 42 points. 20 goals three times total.

If Debrusk gets 7x$5.5M, with a playoff record behind him, I don’t think 4x$4.5 for Geekie is above market value. Hes two years younger than Debrusk and can also play center for you.

Hes not my favorite player, but he can play with Pastrnak. Ideally he’s a 3RW/PP2 guy but if it’s working on top that lets you work on your other two lines. With no wing depth in the organization after Lysell you can’t keep letting goal scorers leave this organization.

I think you retool with him - even though he’d bring in a very good return at the deadline. Unless the return is over the top I think it’s worth keeping him at that price or thereabouts.
