When Monty came here he said something about wanting to change the system but found that the
team/players weren't ready, said he would look at doing it in the future.
This year Sweeneys selections being bigger and slower and Monty gave up IMO.

Think it takes more time to change a system than they figured - I mean it needs to become second nature to everyone on the club from the head coach to the new additions to the providence call ups. That's not going to happen in a disjointed training camp and 20 games of frustrating results. If everyone was on board IMO we'd be looking at a half a season at least. And that's not to say the new system would be any better once folks are comfortable with it.

My answer to your question is that I am not seeing what you are seeing, and the coaching staff is not seeing what you are seeing, and the front office is not seeing what you're seeing. Our goalies have a 91.79 save percent with Zadorov on the ice.

Zadorov was all over Tkachuk tonight. He repeatedly didn't let him get to pucks at the net, he repeatedly didn't let him get to rebounds... Tkachuk was so frustrated he took a 10 minute misconduct at the end of the game because he got owned and couldn't handle it.

I don't know what else to say. I mean, there are times, like on the PK, when they want the D to block shots and take away passing lanes and not get tied up with guys in front (because that just creates a double screen), so maybe you're seeing that and thinking why is that being allowed, but that's a system thing.

I love that before the puck dropped Zadorov told him it was coming too.

he's our best lefty faceoff guy, is like third among forwards in PK time, and has a fairly positive 5v5 defensive impact.

I do find him frustrating to watch at times cause he really is just such a freak skater at his size and I feel like he doesn't use that to his advantage enough, but there's still really no one that should be playing over him.

I been much to the chagrin, of Marchand fans a little tough on him, I am not backing off, but he played a helluva game last night, and much needed, if Miller was between Marchand and Coyle you might have increased your depth with him. Marchand fans I am not backing off what I have said about him, if the right deal comes along for a 37 year old you move him. I also said earlier in the year that, that he was still capable of having games like last night, but also said that he will not be a consistent player anymore, and I am proving to be right. But you might have something with Miller, but the cost is just,,,, let me just say tough to swallow.

Last night watching him deal with Brady was a real example of value that won’t necessarily show up in the scoresheet. Was in his face all night, threw him off his game big time.

I also think he’s been better defensively than in previous years.

To be fair, an amateur golfer trying to break 80 has every cause to be frustrated over missing three consecutive three foot putts when he ends up with an 81. Not gimmees, but eminently makeable at least once.

Yes, I agree. But in fairness looking at the amazing depth of that draft, it's not much of a butterfly effect.

We had a golden opportunity to get 1-3 solid longterm assets that could have been folded into the team or traded for other assets. Today we literally have nothing to show for that. Success on one of those would make our situation today better, Success on three would be sweet. And we gave up a still viable Milan Lucic and very viable Dougie Hamilton for that. Oooof.

Not trying to analyze it any more, that doesn't need to happen. But by and large the scouting, management, and leadership that made the decisions surrounding that disastrously bad draft (and it was, it just was) are largely the same ones who will be figuring out where we go next. And I do believe that is at least worth discussing or analysing.

I like Brandon. He is underrated and unappreciated by many.

However, I suspect things will continue as they are, and if that is the case, Carlo, Peeke, Frederic, John Beecher, Charlie Coyle, the Geek and Brad are trade bate.

I would add Zacha, but he is David's binkie.

Said again, I would trade anyone on this roster. That won't happen, but I wish it would. The same way I hope they miss the playoffs. Then and only then will change occur. Maybe.

Regardless, the message is loud and clear ("Fire Sweeney!') after a consistently inconsistent Debbie Downer muddle of a season. From the Swayman holdout, to the Montgomery firing, to the poor passing, porous defense, to the absurd goal differential, abysmal power play and penalty kill, etc. it's been a complete cluster f*ck with no end in sight.

I have been a big supporter of Carlo, and always felt he has been under appreciated in this town, and always argued that what he brought to the table, and that contract made him a steal and in someways still feel that way, but I even have to admit he just has not had a good year, almost at times looks lost. I guess he should be considered for movement, and I say that reluctantly, but sometime tough decisions need to be made.

He s far from elite and he s not paid like that, but the best value of this guy it s exactly like you say it s not on the scoresheet....Ask VAN fans and you re gonna see that they re crying him right now, they want a 5mil Zad instead of Desharnais, Heinen, Forbort

Big Frank Seravalli calls the Bruins a 'dark horse' in the Miller sweepstakes.

JT Miller would be an enormous upgrade for this team. Apparently Rangers offered Chytil + prospect + 1st but wanted the Canucks to eat some salary. Canucks declined to do so.

What would be the comp to that offer for the Bruins?

Would it be something like Zacha + Merkulov or Brunet or similar prospect + protected 1st? would it be wise to move Zacha?

Well the coaches must have agreed since he got only about 5 minutes of play time, about half TOI of even Brown and Letteri. Doghouse if not sick or injured.

They need forward help in addition to Zacha. They need to ADD to this top 6. Moving Zacha out in the deal would just create another hole in the lineup. Zacha is 27 years old, signed for two more years after this one at a modest 4.75m. He can skate at C or LW. I’m not suggesting he’s untouchable but I don’t see the point in including him in any deal unless you have a replacement for him in the top 6

I agree with Dom & Chris. Zadorov s true value and importance will be in the playoffs. He was solid for Vancouver. Regular season physical play becomes a penalty not so much in the playoffs.

But first the bruins need to make the playoffs. lol.

Beecher starts ~25% of his shifts in the defensive zone, most on the team. So he does heavy lifting to try and get the puck out of the defensive zone and get it into the offensive end. By contrast, Pastrnak starts 4%, Poitras 6% in the defensive zone. I am not saying Beecher is crushing it, he is clearly struggling but most people need to remember that in order for the offensive players to shine someone has to do the grunt work and take the D zone starts (Beecher 25%, Carlo 20%, Coyle 20%). The guys we bash on are usually the D zone focused guys.

JFresh fan voting of top defenseman before the year began had him in the top 60. That would be first pair…

I think some of his biggest fans wouldn’t even go that far but at the bare minimum he’s a 2nd pairing defenseman
