Gut the core and build over .Outside Swayman and Pasta they have nothing worth even talking about far as a core and that includes McAvoy overpaid at 9.5 million. He can't even run a pp.I hope they fire Sweeney & Neely and start over.Imagine, calling this a core and not even a top line centreI think you need to be careful about how invested you get in re-filling the cupboards though. I do understand the need to replenish the pipeline, but at the same time, this core really only has 2-4 years left where they are going to be the 'drivers' behind a Cup win, so in 3 years I don't want to be looking at a team that has added a handful of good, Lysell-level prospects but a core that's now too old to compete.
Well the two best defenders are injured to be fair.
Centers like Poitras? Your list of 'centers' has 2-3 guys who are wingers. We were talking about centers - want me to list ALL the great gems taken in later rounds by all the GMs?
I'm sorry but I find this line of thinking shitty. I am 8 hours away from the closest NHL arena, in which Boston MIGHT play once a year in, so my ability to even go see them is limited. So some working stiff comes up with tickets to the game for his family of 4 and is out 2000 bucks, not counting other expenses, and is watching a team that does not want to win..........sorry unacceptable, but that is just me.
You are letting him off the hook too easily. The 2015-2017 drafts in the 1st round which he had 6 total, plus a net negative value on his FA, are the reason the teams future looks gloomy.Problem with calling him a bad GM is that aside from;
TB, Pittsburgh, Vegas, Florida, Chicago, Colorado, Washington, and St. Louis -- every other team in the league would trade what the Bruins have done over the last decade with what they have done.
I'm not his biggest fan, at all --- but they've been a legit contender for most of the decade and eventually the chickens come home to roost.
That's where we're at.
Right, but you don't win a cup by having guys who are "acceptable" in your most important spots and I think you're putting lots of pressure on Pasta by giving him two guys who ideally are slotted a line or 2 below where they are.If Pastrnak can produce at a 40-42 goal level, Zacha and Geekie are acceptable as a 1st line. Not top 10 but 14-16, yeah.
The problem is at 2C and 2RW. The decline in Coyle is a killer and Lindholm's play has me wanting buyout if the CBA allows it not counting to the cap. Coyle and Brazeau aren't 2RW on a PO team and Lindholm clearly is no 2C on a PO team.
Can't see them making a play for Zegras as a 2C either.
Fire everyone should be plan.Yes, but as Conor writes, they should be relying on a system that has served them well for over 20 years, given a tweak here or there.
Why aren't they?
Why, as Haggerty and Colageo point out, correctly, is Nikita Zadorov out there freelancing when he should be policing the front of the net and doling out repeated, relentless punishment ala Zdeno?
This is defense 101. Even I understand its efficacy.
Why are Sacco and Leach allowing this to continue?
I wish it were.Fire everyone should be plan.
I hope so because these guys can't fix this.I wish it were.
But, significant change is coming.
Any fool can see it.
Between 2015-2017 Sweeney batted .333 in R1, when you consider within the context of who was left on the table and taken immediately after (Connor or Barzal, Kyrou and Thomas) that's franchise altering.Centers like Poitras? Your list of 'centers' has 2-3 guys who are wingers.
My point is the Bruins have gotten some late round gems, they were just in other areas of need, like a franchise G and and a franchise D. Should we have drafted Tage Thompson over Pasta in 2014? That was our franchise W.
Yeah, it sucks we didn't ALSO get a franchise C late in the draft, but nobody bats a thousand at the draft. Getting 3 franchise players where we did is already extremely rare.

I am not disagreeing with your premise. If they had Marchand and DeBrusk on L2 with Lindholm the line of 39-18-88 would have more help. I would have far preferred 63-28-74 to 63-13-51.Right, but you don't win a cup by having guys who are "acceptable" in your most important spots and I think you're putting lots of pressure on Pasta by giving him two guys who ideally are slotted a line or 2 below where they are.
And this isn't to downplay how well Zacha/Geekie have looked up there recently, but they are outmatched when you're playing a team with legitimate talent in their top 6 - there's a reason we are struggling against playoff teams and feasting on non-playoff teams
I am talking about the who was taken in 2015 R1 only to be fair to Sweeney.
My bad I was still stuck in 2015. LolI am not disagreeing with your premise. If they had Marchand and DeBrusk on L2 with Lindholm the line of 39-18-88 would have more help. I would have far preferred 63-28-74 to 63-13-51.

That certainly can't be avoided when same regime is over seeing this mess they iced .I try not to mention it,I really do.Nitemare.Thank god we’re getting around to more 2015 draft talk. Again.
I will never let that draft go...who knows where the bruins would be today if they selected like every other GM and normal human would have selected 3 in a row. GrrrrrrrMy bad I was still stuck in 2015. Lol
If It is a big sellers market and there are some crazy returns like this, than 100% sell. I know this is a far fetched but we have seen lessor players go for some insane amounts at the deadline.
Marchand- 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Carlo- 1st, 2nd
Frederic- 1st, 3rd
Coyle- 1st
Peeke- 2nd, 3rd
Brazeau- 2nd
Korpisalo- 3rd
4- 1sts
4- 2nds
4- 3rds
Geekie-Zacha-Pastrnak
Merkulov-Poitras-Lettieri
Beecher-Lindholm-Lysell
Koepke-Kastelic-McLaughlin
Zadarov-McAvoy
Lindholm-Lohrei
Wortherspoon-Callahan
Swayman
Depietro
You restock the system for years to come. You still have core pieces to build on. You have a ton of cap space to bring in new talent or bring back some of the guys traded. even if that i the case, I think you are way over valuing every player
Well if you want we can go in depth on the 2016 draft and Frederic pick and 2017 Vaak (I know about the Lindholm deal) pick, if you aren't suffering from PTSDDThank god we’re getting around to more 2015 draft talk. Again.
On a side note from that draft year. lolI will never let that draft go...who knows where the bruins would be today if they selected like every other GM normal human would have selected 3 in a row. Grrrrrrr
Too funny I met Zach via a family member who worked with his mom. Missed out on his sister. I have his autograph on bruin cap. Now a dusty forgotten relic in the garage somewhere. On a side note from that draft year. lol
That summer I was at a Golf Tournament in Ottawa and I was sitting at a table with Zach Senyshyn neighbor and I asked him what he thought of the pick, his reply, 'well his sister is a knockout'. lol
That's all that needed to said.
That was not my intention, but I will go with it. As far as your sob story goes, if it concerns you so much move closer.I'm sorry but I find this line of thinking shitty. I am 8 hours away from the closest NHL arena, in which Boston MIGHT play once a year in, so my ability to even go see them is limited.
People going to a game locally dont even understand how lucky they are, if a person can't enjoy a night out unless the Bruins win then I'll happily take those tickets and appreciate the fact that I am able to go watch the team I love with people I love. You take a risk that your team is going to shit the bed every time you go to a game, but at least you don't have to drive 8 hours to watch it happen
Yeah that seems quite productive.Well if you want we can go in depth on the 2016 draft and Frederic pick and 2017 Vaak (I know about the Lindholm deal) pick, if you aren't suffering from PTSDD
yet lol.
It does, click on the MSN it is a link to the article. This would be interesting if it mentioned who the center was.
