Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XIII

Who knows what his contract stipulates. Would probably cost a draft pick or two (obviously not 1\2) but if he really wanted to be GM here being a Billerica guy and ex Bruin who knows?
He's president and GM in NJ right now. Not sure what Boston could offer beyond that, but maybe if he just wants to live here and go through a tough rebuild with a forgiving fanbase. . .

Definitely some good points that i didn't consider here, I'll have to get used to the rising cap a bit.

So maybe in my re-tool scenario where you're looking at your upcoming UFAs to trade you don't go too crazy selling off every guy.

Geekie in particular I think is a good guy to keep especially if we can slot him into a more appropriate spot than line 1
If Pastrnak can produce at a 40-42 goal level, Zacha and Geekie are acceptable as a 1st line. Not top 10 but 14-16, yeah.

The problem is at 2C and 2RW. The decline in Coyle is a killer and Lindholm's play has me wanting buyout if the CBA allows it not counting to the cap. Coyle and Brazeau aren't 2RW on a PO team and Lindholm clearly is no 2C on a PO team.

Can't see them making a play for Zegras as a 2C either.

Frederic was invisible last night
Like the rest of the roster and Swayman must of thought NJ had a second period powerplay.

We desperately need McAvoy and Lindholm back I’d argue even Lindholm was are best defencemen before he got injured but like hmm I think @Sheppy said it’ll take him awhile to hit that level.

I thought I read a while ago that teams would like to trade before the 4 nation tourney so here’s hoping we’re one of them.

No idea what any of them will bring back, but I will say that every year guys are acquired for more than they are worth because GM's get trigger happy at the deadline and they often seem to trade for players hoping that they will get the optimum version of that player for the playoffs.

Carlo at his best is a very good 3/4. Coyle at his best is an excellent third liner, fair 2nd liner. If you have the cap room and a need at those two spots in your lineup, you could do a lot worse, provided they are close to the best version of themself.
Frederic, Carlo and Coyle aren't getting you Dylan Couzens, more like Nick Cousins.

Yeah they may bring back in total a couple of 2nds.

The drop in Colyle's play is shocking and Carlo looks completely lost. So, you aren't getting a player of Couzens talent for those 3, no way.

He's pretty locked up in NJ isn't he?

Yeah , unless they are going tear it down to the studs.
You asked a question and I gave a good faith answer as a possibility because he is a GM who is an ex Bruin and Boston native.

Yeah its more unlikely than the suggestion I made in response to Mr I subscribe
to $1,500 worth of Stats sites, about trading Carlo for another RD. Immediately
I suggested Kesselring. Call up Utah now and they will ask for Frederic extended with Carlo...lol.

Give an alternative other than "anyone else"
kekalanien is a guy I’d be interested in. He did a great job in Columbus. Langenbrunner here in Boston and Rich Peverely out in Dallas

Why is it this season that every time this team gets shamefully blown out of a game, people flood these threads demanding change and accountability??

Like this has to be the 20th time already this year and every time it’s the same thing with you all.
Because there needs to be change in accountability:naughty:

If It is a big sellers market and there are some crazy returns like this, than 100% sell. I know this is a far fetched but we have seen lessor players go for some insane amounts at the deadline.

Marchand- 1st, 2nd, 3rd
Carlo- 1st, 2nd
Frederic- 1st, 3rd
Coyle- 1st
Peeke- 2nd, 3rd
Brazeau- 2nd
Korpisalo- 3rd

4- 1sts
4- 2nds
4- 3rds

Geekie-Zacha-Pastrnak
Merkulov-Poitras-Lettieri
Beecher-Lindholm-Lysell
Koepke-Kastelic-McLaughlin

Zadarov-McAvoy
Lindholm-Lohrei
Wortherspoon-Callahan

Swayman
Depietro

You restock the system for years to come. You still have core pieces to build on. You have a ton of cap space to bring in new talent or bring back some of the guys traded.

lot of talk we need a top center

Here’s my list

McDavid 1
McKinnon 1
Matthews 1
Draisaitl 3
Hughes 1
Barkov 2
Crosby 1
Eichel 2

We need to be horrible - unfortunately no one here seems up for it

I was laughing - brutal trade at time
Agreed - got to be lucky, but I'd even settle for this:

Braydon Point (round 3)
Jorda Kyrou (round 2)
Roope Hintz (round 2)
Alieksei Protas (round 3)
Logan Stankovan (round 2)
Anthony Cirelli (round 3)
Tage Thompson (26th overall)

Another key to not completely starving yourself of better draft positions and acquiring good young prospects while contending every year is to have the guts to trade off a core player you feel you can recover from - like Julian Brisebois trading Sergachev for JJ Moser, Connor Geekie (I'm VERY high on him) and a 2nd round pick. I don't think Sweeney has the guts to do that, at least he never has shown that.

Marchand and Carlo are the only 2 guaranteed firsts IMO. I think you need to retain on Coyle to maybe get one and even then idk, and I think Fred's play this year has moved him into a 2nd rounder territory.

Peeke cost a 3rd last year, don't think he goes for more then that now. Korpisalo is still a cap dump that we'd have to pay to get rid of.

We really don't need 12 picks in the first three rounds in this draft lol.

That second line is questionable NHL , let alone top 6 , and third line might fall into that category, as a matter of fact that 4th line should make you nervous.

Why would any of that make you nervous?

He’s obviously suggesting a situation where the record doesn’t matter… he’s not going for wins.
So some working stiff comes up with tickets to the game for his family of 4 and is out 2000 bucks, not counting other expenses, and is watching a team that does not want to win..........sorry unacceptable, but that is just me.

Great list

When my kids were young I would take them to Topsfield Fair and although they needed another stuffed animal like my mother said “- whole in your head” (I think that’s what she said) I’d ask the guy for 5 darts for 3 for a $1. If no one was around he’d give me the 5. Because I worked 4/10 I’d take them after school when it was dead. I had a kingdom In their bedrooms from nailing stuffed animals - often on 4 and 5th dart or ball.

Sweeney has been going 1 or 2 darts and now it’s time to get at least 3 or 4

Tampa really crushed it

Boston best 3 players - McAvoy, sway, pasta all picked after top 10 which is good

They need to never ever trade for a rental

2022-23 was unique and I’m good with it but now no way

I’m very cool with not making playoffs

I’ve somewhat checked out - but I’m going tonight

As for Sweeney I’m not doing anything now or this calendar

As for Neely- he’s a psycho like me so I can relate to what he wants and why he says shit

A package of Marchand and Carlo could fetch a real nice return. Minnesota, Carolina,Dallas and Colrado all should be interested, and all have some top rated near NHL ready prospects who Sweeney should be targeting imo..
