Detroit won 7 in a row while being 8 pts back of WC2. After the win streak they were still 4 pts out. When you have a large gap and lots of teams in that area of the standings, a win streak is not going to be enough unless it keeps going.

Who would be shocked if Calgary, Anaheim, Utah, or Seattle sucked down the stretch? Counting on all of them sucking is why it's a long shot for Nashville but it's not like they have great teams in front of them.

Vancouver and St. Louis are different stories but Vancouver are hard to gauge with so much up in the air around their roster and St. Louis aren't exactly world beaters. A wild card spot is already overachieving for them based on pre-season expectations.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say that what we’re seeing right now is the “real” Predators and they’re fully capable of making a chase of it until the very end. We’ve seen similar runs before.

The question is whether they stay healthy and everyone stays locked in for the next 3 months. That can be harder than it sounds, especially when even a short losing streak can be the dagger.

I think last year they weren't doing well around this time and then they went on a huge run Feb-April? Funny enough it happened after Trotz cancelled a team outing to The Sphere.
