So some working stiff comes up with tickets to the game for his family of 4 and is out 2000 bucks, not counting other expenses, and is watching a team that does not want to win..........sorry unacceptable, but that is just me.
In this strawman, the working stiff should recognize the team is re-setting and not trying to compete and spend his $2k elsewhere. There's nothing forcing him to go to the game. Take the fam to a movie.

Someone new has to be given the keys to this ship. Blows my mind their so hesitant to go outside of the organization, the time they finally did heyyy look what happened.

You keep Pastrnak, Swayman, McAvoy, Hampus and Marchand (if he chooses) Now to me everyone has a price including them but it would have to be a blow me away type offers to consider. I assume Elias and Zadorov aren't going anywhere since they were recently signed to big hard to move deals. I'd be moving on from Coyle, Carlo,Frederic and Brazeau

Zadorov-McAvoy

Lorhei-Peeke

Swayman

That's a lot of blanks to fill in. Some could be filled by Poitras and those types, but the 2 holes In the top 6 are massive and I'm not sure how they get filled successfully.

Brillant, how long have spread such wisdom.

Also appearing in this strawman, just about every one in an arena seat is a 'working stiff.' The idle rich, if there are a few in attendance, are in the luxury boxes.

It's strange how there have been zero legitimate trade rumors on this board this year. Especially considering the state of the team.

I wonder why :sarcasm:

Check comments per Sacco benching Brad in overtime & "coach's decision" not to deploy one of the NHL's best shoot out performers against Ottawa.

Curiouser and curiouser,

Zacha should be on a third line, same with Lindholm. Zadorov should anchor a bottom pair or be a complimentary guy on your second pairing. This team is absolutely horrible. 2 top 6 guys on the entire team and one top pairing dman. How are they at the cap? Brutal contracts all around. Sweeney has to be the worst GM in the league. He almost makes Chiarelli look smart.

Frederic, Carlo and Coyle aren't getting you Dylan Couzens, more like Nick Cousins.

Yeah they may bring back in total a couple of 2nds.

The drop in Colyle's play is shocking and Carlo looks completely lost. So, you aren't getting a player of Couzens talent for those 3, no way.

In a world where this happened, I'll never underestimate how impetuous, foolish, and/or desperate GM's can get at the deadline.

Tanner Jeannot was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning by the Nashville Predators on Sunday.
Nashville received defenseman Cal Foote, a conditional first-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, a second-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, and a third-, fourth- and fifth-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

And this isn't an isolated case -- just one of the bigger overpays. Deals happen every year where the vast majority of people are left shaking their heads.

I like Poitras too. My only question is whether or not we overrate him simply because he's currently their most effective forward prospect?

Time will tell, I guess but even though I like him I think his ceiling is 55–60-point 2C, which is nothing to sneeze at, but also likely not the difference between winning a cup and not. Also, I don't think he reaches that ceiling until 2027 or later.
Was David Krejci not a 55-60 point 2c?

Well you aren't going to be able to go out and get 4 top 6 guys, that just isn't realistic, so unless they're dealt it is what it is.

Zadorov shouldn't be there but that's where he fits, if he or someone else can play their off side then can change it up.

I won't bad mouth Chia too much, he did what no one else could. His problem was he fell in love with the roster and refused to make changes that should of been made.

So instead of 2 seconds, one first. However, I was mainly saying no way they get
Couzens alone for that package, never mind Jokiharu also. Adams would get canned immediately.

Agreed - got to be lucky, but I'd even settle for this:

Braydon Point (round 3)
Jorda Kyrou (round 2)
Roope Hintz (round 2)
Alieksei Protas (round 3)
Logan Stankovan (round 2)
Anthony Cirelli (round 3)
Tage Thompson (26th overall)
You would settle for some late round gems? I mean, isn't that exactly what the Bruins have done?

Swayman (Round 4)
Lohrei (Round 2)
Poitras (Round 2)
Carlo (Round 2)
Pastrnak (best 25th overall pick of all time)

Problem with calling him a bad GM is that aside from;

TB, Pittsburgh, Vegas, Florida, Chicago, Colorado, Washington, and St. Louis -- every other team in the league would trade what the Bruins have done over the last decade with what they have done.

I'm not his biggest fan, at all --- but they've been a legit contender for most of the decade and eventually the chickens come home to roost.

That's where we're at.

We were talking about centers - want me to list ALL the great gems taken in later rounds by all the GMs?

Gotcha.

I'm not convinced about what they'd get for any of their guys, I just always hang on to the fact that year in and year out a few teams make moves out of desperation.

I just hope we're the beneficiaries this year.

He hit the high 60's and 70's a few times. I'm really not trying to knock on Poitras and maybe I'll be wrong, but I think 60 might be his ceiling.
He did, but he had less than 60 points 8 times in his career and averaged 62 points per 82.

I think Poitras needs to get faster and stronger, but I see him as a similar two-way, 60 point 2C.

Not at all prepared to label Lohrei or Poitras “gems” yet.
