Never mind Scott Stevens. Harry drafted Gordie because he would not cost too much a defensive defenseman. Given his injury history and lack of dynamism no one will ever convince me otherwise.
Very possible, when it comes to Harry, I have never been one of his biggest fans. I always liked Kluzak, no matter where he was drafted, too bad though with his injury history.

All of Beecher’s value is tied up in his face off ability. Useful 4C but yeah I wouldn’t pay 1.8 for what he brings

Frustrating to see Brown get the call but I imagine it’s because they don’t want Lysell or Merkulov playing 4th line. Would prefer Farinacci then but maybe that’s just me. Or even Viel to replace Kastelic’s toughness

Or put Vinnie down there on the 4th line like he has played much of his NHL career, especially with Koepke out. Although those two bookending Kastelic in the long run isn't a bad thing either.

The Brown thing is a piss off. I feel for Merk.
Puzzling to say at the least. In their most recent game Lohrei and Poitras had a whole lot to do with the victory. Two players known more for their skill, than for their longevity or NHL experience. So Sweeney counters this by bringing up basically a lifetime AHLer and a tweener instead of the likes of a lysell or a Merk. Even bringing up just one of them, I could work with, but by-passing on both is just mindbogglingly imo.

Brown will be good for the locker room.

At least that's what I've heard.

I hope this isn't related to Kastelic concussion and the fact that the Bruins may have brought him back to soon. Carlo at time looks like a Veggie out there. he really does, looks like a shadow of himself at times.I questioned the timing of his returns on prior occasions. I didn't like seeing Kastelic back as quick as he was.

Hope it's precautionary too and he didn't rush anything coming back.

Really don't understand why a good soldier like Brown gets flak in here. He's the Providence captain and they're looking to fill in the bottom 6 (Frederic and Kastelic). He's got one fewer goal than Merkulov and is outproducing Lysell. He knows the role and is willing and able to fit it better than the promising "offensive" kids.

I can see calling up one of them, but why not one of lysell and Merk, their hopefully the future.

Nice. That's a good barometer. My $.02

I think Marchand will take a steep discount vs their projection.
I think Frederic gets more if he hits the UFA market.
Geekie seems fair and would be a good deal for Boston.
Lohrei is a bit high for a bridge, I was thinking something in the $2's for 2 years.
Beecher can walk at that price. Stone hands needs to stay under $1m for me.
Brazeau is a bargain at $1.5, I think he will cost at least $1m more, maybe double if he hits free agency.
Koepke and Wotherspoon seem fair.
You're right about Geekie and Lohrei.

Lohei is not eligible for arbitration. So, he has zero leverage. If they offer 2.3M, the compensation will already be a second round pick.

Geekie can go to arbitration, so he has more leverage.

The Bruins' last two second-round picks were Lohrei and Poitras. Not bad I would say with they go, but I would like both of them to stay.

IDK if the Brown call up is a cap thing or not --- but if it isn't it just speaks to the tone-deafness of the front office.

Coming off a crappy Ottawa game and a less than stellar performance vs. SJ ---- and instead of giving fans something to be even just a little excited about (Lysell/Merkulov) we get Patrick Browned.

Bruins are replacing Kastelic and what he brings on the 4th line with Brown, so to me the callup makes sense.
Great point, but why not bring up Lysell in place of Wahlstrom?
The Bruins now have like 16 forwards on their roster and many of them are just that a 4th liner who could fill that role. That’s what frustrates me, why not bring up a guy who has creativity and an offensive mind set in his game?

I'd like to see that too but it seems the Bruins are playing the long game with Lysell.

For what it's worth, I think Lysell has a good chance to be a productive 2nd line player in the NHL. I don't feel the same with Merkulov, who I think is just one of those AHL/NHL tweener types that excel in one league but not so much in the other.

It seems the Bs have an unending list of fourth line "200 foot players" who lack at least two of creativity, speed or shot.

While I get wanting "honest " players can we please call up a Lysell or Merk for the second line (move Vinnie to the third line) and as a start, sit Walstrom

I try not to defend Neely or Sweeney, but I bet it is a cap thing. I would prefer Lysell over Brown just because he isn't really a known quantity and they have to fish or cut bait with Lysell sometime between now and next year anyway. Edit: they can always Vinny L or Coyle ......

I'm actually curious what our lineup would look like with Charlie, Hampus, Koepke, Kastelic all healthy. This seem right?

Geekie-Zacha-Pasta
Marchy-Poitras-Coyle
Freddy-Lindholm-Brazeau
Koepke-Beecher-Kasty
Lettieri or Walhstrom?

Zadarov-Mac
Hampus-Carlo
Lohrei-Peeker

Top six with one top six. Tough times still ahead.

The Bruins board hasn't stopped talking about it for 10 years. Drawing a lesson that you can just use Bob McKenzie's list (or any other) shows the thought process. I can post every other draft and you'll see things like we should have taken Jake Bean instead of McAvoy, like this list showed.
I was the only one who at an HF members pre draft party a few hours before draft in 2014 at the Outback (in Norwood ? I think where Boston Tavern is now) said based on knowledge from Don Sweeney they are taking Pastrnak - but I’d take Jared McCann

I am still living off this amazing prediction with the group present

Thank you Donny

Presidents Trophy the year before that as well.

I see less falloff from them than other recent Cup winners like Colorado who lost interest entirely and Vegas similar.
Avs lost Landeskog and Nichuskin only played 2 of the 7 1st Round games, though they still should have beaten Seattle. They weren't going past 2nd round no Landeskog and Nichuskin.
