Would you take a chance on Zibanejad?

You mention reclamation projects and someone earlier mentioned Washington's retool and taking a chance on Dubois.

Is there an amount retained that makes Zibanejad worth the risk?
Great question. I guess I'd reply with, who is better today and next year, Coyle or him?

I feel like Canadian markets in particular do this to their players. I know he got benched, but like @NDiesel said, I'm sure you can find 100 clips of Pasta losing his man and gliding after he got beat. Marchand is king of the lazy change.

I don't know. Maybe Tochett takes particular issue with it because JT Miller is the first guy to scream at teammates for not playing hard.

Is there any chance Tochett said something to Miller and Miller took himself out of the game? Or is it confirmed it was a coach directed benching?

I feel like those bemoaning Sweeney for the signing of Lindholm should be reminded of how universally it was lauded at the time it was announced.
I still think Lindholm will work out well in the near future here. Why?

Cap % and his role and style of play doesn't drop off with age. I think they have a signed a 2nd line C to a cap hit that will be more reflective of a 3rd liners salary cap % in as little as a year and a half from now.

The hole remains in the top line C. Cap will come available for every team as the cap hits 100 million but which teams will be able to spend that on a 1st line C? Which ones will be available?

I know you meant that as a no brainer, but I think Sacco and Laviolette would have a harder time answering the question. Coyle's role is very different. He's your defensive conscience. He leads the league in takeaways. He's also the first guy to face the music when the team plays like shit (while Pasta and McAvoy slip out the back door).

Zibanejad is not a leader. He's infinitely more skilled but he's streaky and seems to have a Jake DeBrusk type temperament where he gets really low and really high. He's also signed for 3 more years beyond next season. So that has to be a factor too.

All that said, he is intriguing. I've been a fan of his for awhile. For me, Lindholm is the issue. I don't want a team where my top2 centers are in their 30's (again). If we didn't have him I would probably take the chance.

If you knew half of the drama going on here you'd understand.

Boston media covers the Bruins for snippets between other sports.

Here, every single day 24/7 the Miller / Pettersson drama is on the airwaves. You get in your car, they are discussing it as you commute in. Calls, texts, messages on the media are all about the dis-function here and how it is affecting the players.

I'd post the real video that matters to me here but I can't. It's of me and a season ticket holder at the comeback game vs. Edmonton when JT Miller took over a game and outplayed McDavid and Draisaitl. A guy who is a playoff clutch performer here and the entire arena is screaming his name as the goals are announced.

Showing me a blown coverage against LA in a game in Janaury while the team is the biggest drama show in the NHL doesn't really move the needle.

Give me JT Miller wanting to prove to everyone how clutch he is during the 1st round vs the Leafs any day.

Can I ask the point of this? For one he looks absolutely gassed like it was the end of the long shift, so I'm curious the context.

Secondly it's one play, I'm sure you can find a similar highlight of Pasta or Marchy too if you look hard enough.
100%. This entire Bruins roster this year has a MONTAGE of plays at this level, not one played is exempt.

True.

Whatever one thinks of them now, EL & NZ were by consensus the best players out there to be had.

That was certainly my take at the time.

Zadorov has recently shown signs of life.

Lindholm...
He showed life on the draw that led to Peeke goal

As long as he comes cheap. If he can’t put up points in Colorado, don’t see it happening here.

In terms of Middlestadt, Maybe you swap Coyle for him. Casey has a bit more upside, Coyle is probably more reliable overall . Contracts are similar, I certainly wouldn't add much
