Boston Bruins 24-25 Roster/Cap thread XI

What would you add to Coyle and Carlo (9.35) for JT Miller and Vincent Desharnis (10)

Desharnis is probably close to a cap dump at this point but they need someone to replace Carlo's minutes one way or another and they are supposedly shopping him as well

I mean for this to be realistic the answer is Poitras right? I'd rather skip the Desharnis part of it. Once Lindholm is back I would just throw Oesterle/Wotherspoon on his right and look at upgrading that spot in the offseason.

Not a chance! Why the hell do the Bruins always have to add to trade?
People seem to under value the players on this team and over value the other teams players.

I don’t see the Bruins doing anything significant, mainly because, they’re not deep enough at any position. They just don’t have a position of strength to deal from.

Sweeney swung big and missed again in Free Agency, this time with Lindholm. He keeps putting himself behind the eight ball and I think it’s finally has caught up to him.

Lysell and a pick

I mean we are talking about an 80-100 point center here. And a Charlie Coyle on pace for 30 points.
That is my point! Coyle's value is based on this season, and Miller's value on last season is what your saying.
So realize Miller isn't going to get 80 to 100 points this season, it maybe be closer to what Coyle had last season 60 points, if even that. Miller has missed 11 games so far.

You are right he missed those 11 games for taking leave. He is around PPG, tho. And we are talking about 5 straight years of being a PPG+ guy. And Coyle being a guy with more than 45 points twice in his 11 year career. I dunno why you think cherry picking Coyle’s outlier year is making your point.

If I’m Sweeney I give my buddy Verbeek a call. MacTavish and Trouba Anaheim retains half. for Carlo, Frederic , this years first and Lysell

Does the cap work on this one? Also are we including Trouba as a cap dump for them?

Definitely interested in McTavish. He’s a perfect fit.

McTavish, EP, Zegras, Cozens—they all fill that desperate need we have.

Something has to give this week. Yes good win but that was all on Swayman. The Panthers dominated the play. I still say speed, skill, and confidence are killing the bruins. At the very least Lysell should be called up. With Trent playing better as of late that will help with the return.

the players I would like to see resigned are Koepke and Braz. Geek can wait another year. I like Braz but can see him being dealt. Walstrome is meh. I would much prefer see Lysell in his role.

Rather see them move Coyle (better return with an extra year on his deal) and resign Frederic (at less than coyle $). Give Frederic the 3C and look to fill the top 6 where Coyle's barely treading water.

I do this one very quickly.
Yep, no idea if McTavish is available, but he's young and has a bright future. Him and Poitras as 1,2 down the middle would all of a sounded make the future look a little brighter That's imo is who Sweeney should be targeting a young center with great upside, to go along with Poitras.

I believe the cap works I have the Ducks retaining half of Trouba cap hit. Couzins would be another great target, read this morning wings were scouting him heavily and that the Sens would like to move Norris another nice young player, but his past shoulder injuries worry me a bit there.

Mac Tavish is an interesting look, only 21.

Hopefully the type of player Sweeney is targeting

This is the year to sell and retool with something like this.

How can you wait another year to resign Geekie?

Well he's an RFA with arbitration rights, so he should come in at a reasonable number for a bridge deal and not be too big of a cap problem. Besides, he's a good player in the right role that is good to have on the gameday roster.

Assuming his production stays consistent the rest of the year and he finishes with 20g/20a, if I'm Geekie I'm either going with a 1-year deal and testing the market in 2026, or I want some term on my next deal. Not talking 7-8 years or anything, but maybe 4 years? I don't see why he would want say a 2-year bridge on his contract this off-season. This current deal is his bridge deal.

Geekie has 18 points in his last 24 games. That's a 31 goal, 62 point pace. He's making plays, playing physical, skating well, defending well, burying his chances... Yeah, it helps playing with Pasta but Zacha isn't scoring at a 30 goal pace.

I think we need to start thinking about him being a good fit there and an actual top6 forward.
