Completely agree. I'm sure they can get a good return for Frederic and Carlo and Geekie. I'm afraid that Sweeney is going to trade the first for some lead footed rental. They already don't have a 2nd.

I’ll get tarred for this take but I’m going to suggest that MAYBE Marchand isn’t the best choice for captain. He’s a great Bruin, he’s a gamer, but I’m not sure he’s the voice the locker room needs. He’s always been a better Robin than a Batman imo.

Maybe a Kreider or Brock Nelson is just what this team needs.

Kind of agree. I think Marchand is getting a free pass this year. He isn't really performing and the team he is the captain of, is playing like crap. I think its partly because of the surgeries and his age.

I can't think of one of their top players that have played well this year. Its a collective problem and I have a hard time pinning it on one player, whomever that is.

We need to take a gamble on some potential high level skilled players. I mean Dylan Holloway was pouched from EDM where he was struggling and now he has what 32 pts in 43 games? Which is equivalent to what Brad has given us this year and 2nd on our team. Sure that might not have happened here, but there are players like this every year that just need the chance.

With the Bruins only carrying 22 of the max 23 players on their roster, is there really any reason right now for Lysell to be in Providence? Clearly they could use his skill-set at this current juncture.

Instead they'll leave him down in the AHL just so they can conserve more cap space for the trade deadline. A deadline where all signs point towards them being sellers.

its stunning that the one guy in the organization that actually plays a modern today's nhl style game can't sniff the big roster. one game for this kid.

Great post, hopefully Donny is reading it too.
The more crap ( and players you acquire) you throw at the wall, the chances are some will stick.
We took a chance with DH and JVR last year and they played okay for us.
You can also add a player like Trevor Moore, who the Leafs traded to LA years ago, he has been a great add for the Kings.

I’m not going to be in on the tar/feathers. To me, this has been an issue since Chara.

This team needs to play like they did for the middle 10 minutes or so in last nights third period -- ALL THE TIME. Uptempo, aggressive, puck hounding with a touch of physicality. Without it we f***ed.

But do that and you spend time in the opponents zone and relieve pressure on a defensive system (notice I didn't limit it to poor Mason Lohrei) that clearly needs settling.

However, that kind of effort and intensity has been largely missing this year -- I don't know why. As I said in GDT last night, I expected that kind of hard working team when the season started.

Maybe the problem is that there is not one player on the team who, in his right mind, is afraid of losing his job. Cupboards are barer than any time in recent history.

Honest question old timers -- can you remember a time when our prospect pool was so diminished? Off hand I cannot, but will think about it. Either way, it's dark.

I will tell you in three years. Their last few drafts where very good based on were they draft. Now that they are sucking up the joint the picks will become more off the list as appose to being forced to reach

Need to start the selling. I'd ask Marchand what he wants to do and respect what he says. I would look to move bigger pieces like Carlo, Frederic and Coyle. Geekie and Brazeau I would look to deal too. I just don't know the cumulative value of these guys. Restocking the cupboard is paramount.

I disagree with this. Marchand has played over 1000 games as a Bruin and is the last guy to actually win something.

Lindholm coming back will help wonders on the backend, the issue is goal scoring. Team should not be reliant on winning games 1-0/2-1. Not with this current defense that is.

Bruins as of today are 12 in the east in winning percentage. I really think the writing is on the wall here. Sweeney going to let them play it out and see where they are come trade deadline., then he acts accordingly.

The league is so tight at the bottom and the Bruins are not in a position to trade for rentals nor do they have the prospect pool to bring in any significant upgrade with term. Their basically f--cked for this year. Maybe they squeeze in and get JJ some revenue, maybe not. No revenue I think/hope Sweeney is gone by the Draft!

The impact of the captain is overrated as it is. There isn't a past captain in hockey history that could do anything with this talentless group of players. You could have Mark Messier in there and it wouldn't matter.

What have Kreider or Nelson ever won?

Sacco ain't the problem but he sure as shit ain't the solution either. Doesn't matter they aren't canning two coaches in one season.

Marchand as captain isn't the problem. A lack of talent and a flawed roster. That is the problem.
