The day Craig Cunningham got a hat trick in Providence the Bruins played Montreal here on a Sunday. Gallagher dad Ian Sat right near us and was in crowd night before on SNIH and they showed him. I said to him you got some good face time last night and he laughed

We hung out with him at game and we’re telling him we went to a lot of Providence games - my kid was with me and was playing hockey and we went pretty much every Friday with @Saxon Eric and his kid.

Gallagher was with Vancouver Giants and said ‘you know Cunningham got a hat trick this afternoon’. Cunningham, Lucic, and his kid were on Vancouver. He said he was close with Lucic family and Milan. He Also said I swear (I’ll ask my daughter she was talking to him and after game the three of us went downstairs and he took her to meet Brendan) super nice guy - but he said the Bruins were going to draft Brendan

Brendan wanted to be a Bruins as well as join the other two

I’ll ask my kid but pretty sure he was waiting for them to tske him and went to Habs

Scott Bradley was the Bruins assistant GM or scouting director? - had cancer and couldn’t travel so he hung around Giants rink in Vancouver / he pushed for Lucic & they got him - Chiarelli wasn’t there yet Gorton was acting

I’m not sure if Gallagher was the Lucic draft or next (I think so) when Chiarelli was in charge

Also Montreal had 3 picks after the Bruins took Hamel - two in first and took Ryan McDonagh & MaxPax then in round two took PK

If they got Gallagher in that draft wtf

Also Chiarelli traded a high pick (a 3?) to move up a couple of spots and grab Tommy Cross

I’m going by memory so possible something off on draft but think got right

Thank the hockey Gods Bob Gainey lost his mind and traded McDonagh to Rangers or he could have altered round 1 of 2011

Chiarelli wiff was epic

Bruins were rumored to want Couture instead of Hamel but LC got mono and missed significant time and dumb ass Bruins veered to Zach
Gallagher is like Marchands clone, built to be a Bruin. McDonough would've been magnificent here. Ahh, what could've been.

He has 11 goals and Capitals are 2nd in goals per game at 3.6
.Only 14th in pp dents my special team theory a bit but he definitely has helped them score goals.

Sad part is this isn't the first season where the lack of shooting threats from the point has been an issue.

And lack of shooting ability up front is also a major concern still. Teams know that for the most part if the Bruin player isn't within 5 feet of the net, he's not a threat to score.

Not sure if you watch the World Juniors but the kids these days can rip 'em.

Yeah, but are they ALL 200 ft. players?!?:sarcasm:

You people should check your math because Gallagher and Lucic never played hockey together. There is 4 years difference in age. Lucic was drafted in 2006 and Gallagher in 2010. So some posters are shoveling a lot of BS.

I don’t think it was implied that they actually played together on same team at same time. They did both play for the Giants.

It’s well known Papa Gallagher was Brendan and Milan’s strength coach. And they trained together in the offseasons.

I feel like this team should be selling, but with an eye on staying competitive and getting assets that can help as soon as next year. How do they do that, I don’t know, I’m not a professional GM. But I think we all have ideas on who is dead weight going forward, and getting assets for them ultimately should help this team more than holding on to them and spending more assets.

No chance Sweeney grows the gnads to deal off dead weight at the TDL if the team is still in playoff contention.

I watched the Habs vs Vegas game yesterday after our loss, and I found it odd to see players able to make simple precise passes, catch passes without losing them, to skate with the puck while handling it without problem and be able to cross the blue line advereses without a f$%? turnover or just throw the puck in the corner without problem, and I won’t talk about the PP and the PK...i dont get why Bs team with all this high paid players cannot do those simple plays.

High paid players doesn't always equate to high skill players

Bottom line, this team lacks a 1st line. Currently it’s Pastrnak & two 2nd liners.

A 2nd line and two 3rd lines just doesn’t cut it in today’s NHL.

(1st LW) • (1st C) • Pastrnak
Marchand • Lindholm • Coyle
Geekie • Zacha • Poitras
Koepke • Kastelic • Brazeau

Fill in the 2 blanks on the 1st line and you can make some noise in the playoffs
Do you propose to trade Freddy, Beecher, Lysell, Merkulov?

Bruins dont have a lot to trade for, but can Bs get Taylor Hall with some retain for a 3rd pick and Mast, get Brock Nelson for i dont know what to give, maybe 2026 first pick + Freddy with some retain? I dont think so but the line up is sundenly way better for sure...I just dont want to part ways with 2025 1st pick, Lysell, Merkulov except for a really good player under 30 yo like JT Miller as an exemple...

Hall • Nelson • Pastrnak
Marchand • Lindholm • Coyle
Geekie • Zacha • Poitras
Koepke • Kastelic • Brazeau
Beecher

1. I said they played for Vancouver Giants although I would’ve thought they were teammates even though Lucic was older

2. Cunningham played with both

3. Ian Gallagher was I believe their strength & conditioning coach for Lucic & Cunningham

4. I looked it up : March 3, 2013 Sunday

Providence at home 4 o’clock : Craig Cunningham a hat trick

Bruins vs Montreal at night lose 4-3. Gallagher & Lucic in game

5. My daughter who knows many posters here remembers meeting Ian Gallagher who was in section 16 next to us having this conversation about how he was hoping to be drafted by Bruins & his relationship with Lucic, bringing up Cunningham hat trick, and the 3 of us (his wife wasn’t with them) waiting till cleared out and going downstairs to Legends/ where players come out

I’ll accept Bam Bam’s apology because I’m all class

Lucic trained under Gallagher's dad (if I remember correctly) and his son was often around the rinks w the Giants players.

I wrote my post to be honest thinking they did play together though - if I was placing a bet I’d say yes.

Jacobs probably won't allow it with 2 playoff gates attainable :sarcasm:
I try to live a somewhat healthy life.

Is that because I am some kind of health guru???? No. It’s so I can outlive that f***er JJ.

And I’m a competitive SOB too. If Concessions Jeremy wills the team to Short Bus Charlie I’m going the cryogenic route.

You can make all the proposals you want, but it does not address the problem, there were two contracts signed this offseason that were overpayments, and I said at the time, you need cap room to add to this roster, as a result you have just what I said would happen, need to add to this roster, but no cap space to add. Brillant cap management, awful talent evaluation. Good job Donnie, and all of who supported this shit Happy New Year.

Meh get rid of Coyle and the Lindholm deals not that bad. Dump Carlo and you can afford Zad.

Those are the guys that need to go and you might as well flip Freddy he's not earning his spot in the lineup at the moment and likely won't be resigned.
