I think there’s a lot of revisionist history with Spooner.
I recall when we traded him he was actually electric on the Bruins. That DeBrusk - Krejci - Spooner line was lighting it up.
I guess my point is that it’s okay to have some very offensively focused players. We can play defense, that part is clear. Let’s get some balanced lines and have people who can put the puck on the net or facilitate that function.
Easiest first step there is at least trying Lysell.
I’m not so sure. They gave him rope because he did have some talent, but they traded him because he never hit Frederic point levels at 5 on 5 and had all the warts. And we can’t pretend he wasn’t out of the league before he was 30. To stay in the league he had to do more than he did. And that was decided after Boston. He's a pending UFA who cares what his cap hit is were a third of the way through the season.
If anything getting him back could be a shrewd move if he's ready to take a below market deal to play for his Bruins. We trade for him and he resigns for 3 years 2 mil per or something.
