Easiest thing for Sweeney to do is call up Poitras and/or Lysell to inject some speed and offense into the top 6. Huge X to Sweeney and Montgomery for not giving these two players extended looks during training camp and the season. Even if they fail, they would at least then know what they may need to trade for. It's easier to give these two young players a shot than it is to trade for a magician that can distribute the puck to guys skating in quicksand or a pure goalscorer.

Honestly, I don’t hate they kept them away from the tire fire. Once McLaughlin proves he ain’t it, I’d love to see one of them up.

I think the most realistic move they could make before the deadline would be Frank Vatrano.

Not too expensive, cap wise. Hasn't been scoring a ton so shouldn't be too costly to acquire.

Empty seats and apathy incoming. If this team waits til the trade deadline to add Vatrano and that is the add, it's better to go full rebuild. This team cannot score and isn't entertaining at all as a product.

What's sad is that I think this team is actually built more soundly for the playoffs than last years team; the problem is that they aren't skilled enough to get into the playoffs.

People really overrate Lysell. I’ll be surprised if he’s an NHL regular in 5 years and not playing in Europe. He’s got no business being in a bottom 6 role and no brains for the top 6.

Sorry I worded that poorly, I meant, the most realistic move they could make right now would be Vatrano.

I think bigger names would have to wait until the deadline, when they have accrued more cap space. Of course, the catch-22 is that they may not be in a playoff position at the deadline if they don't act now, but acting now, even for a modest add like Vatrano, is probably going to prevent them from doing something big at the deadline because it will eat up all their accrued space.

It doesn't matter if he's overrated or if he sucks. He's one of their best forward prospects. He looked good with Marchand and Coyle during the 2023 preseason and had multiple looks there. The Bruins need players with speed, that can make a pass, and that don't treat the puck like a grenade. Lysell fits the bill. The Bruins have nothing to lose with the call-up when they haven't been able to produce 5v5 this whole season. He has upped his game in Providence, and he deserves a shot. If Lysell sucks, send him back down. It at least gives the Bruins more insight that they need to look externally or not to improve the roster.

I can't stand trading assets for players we already had .But they have to do something to add some scoring.

When you say big ,can you give an example of what you are thinking.I think the type team Bruins have they just need a guy who can pot some on that damn powerplay.

Sell. Recoup some assets.
Yep. Can't limp into the playoffs this year and hope to win a series scoring as little as they are. I'd maybe keep Brazeau and that's it for UFAS

Trade your UFAs. Only make a trade for a young guy who will be here, like Zegras, otherwise don't add anyone over 26 years old

You wait until the deadline and there may be no use in adding anyone. I believe right now we're at a pivotal point in this season. We have 23 points, tied with Buffalo for last wildcard so we're hanging on. We're only two points behind Florida for second in the division. With all the problems we've had we've been able to hang in there but it won't last. We need help now, last in the league in scoring is unacceptable. I like the way this team is built for the playoffs but we may soon have that opportunity slipping farther away from us if they don't get some scoring help and the guys we do have that can and should be scoring don't step it up. We need a 30-40 goal scoring winger ASAP. I'd be taking a hard look at Kredier from the NYR and see what kind of return they're looking for.

I would look towards Nashville and Washington and try to get Evangelista, Lapierre and your 2 back. If Lysell isn't in the plans move him now. Coyle should have value. Freddy. Geekie did. I'm ok with the defense and goalies. Marchand I move if someone overpays with a 1 and player/prospect.

I'm willing to take it down to the wire though, not giving up yet.

No chance I am adding this year. Gross malfeasance to give up future assets to add to this group IMO. Every five years or so I change up the paint in the house, time for the Bruins to do it as well

Do we think the following point paces are a slow start or the new reality of the player:

Coyle: 60 points to 17 points (per 82 pace)
Zacha: 59 points to 25 points
Frederic: 40 points to 21 points
Geekie: 39 points to 18 points

Those guys not all being on pace to match their career highs isn’t surprising, but they ain’t waiver wire fodder like they are producing as either.

This is the play. Can’t have Sweeney and his scouts using the picks though because their history is not great.
Why not. Stay the pace and sell high. Might be a blessing in disguise for the franchise. Not sure Charlie pulls the trigger. I think they’ll get a little better just from some kind of defensive system. After that, I’m not sure

I think you retain as much as possible on Coyle to get a 1st round pick...I look at the Predators who have 3 and need a center. If you can flip it with Geekie for Zegras then I'd go with this.

Zacha Zegras Pastrnak
Marchand Lindholm Lysell
Frederic Poitras Brazeau
Three of the weakest ass centers you could put together, winning combination.........Good Grief.

I think Brazzeau is the perfect opportunity to sell high and get something for a player that cost you nothing.
I like him and he’s a great story but he’s a UFA and likely going to try and cash in on one good year (I don’t blame him).
No trade protection and a 400k cap hit (with retention), he can be traded literally anywhere without having to make the money work. That has value.

At the end of day would it hurt to call up Lysell
Would it hurt the team? Obviously not, they already stink and are clearly in need of an offensive spark

But I do think that calling someone that's under 6 foot would physically hurt Neely, so that has to be taken into consideration.
