It didn't become a shooters league overnight. He was stopping these same shots last year and this year just can't seem to do it as well. Sure the team likely limited these shots better but I don't recall him letting in nearly as many clean shots last year and i don't think we should just brush it off since every goalie is playing the same shooters and the other top paid guys around the league are playing like it, even on a other dumpster fires like Nashville, or Islanders. You as a goalie are paid to make the first stop at minimum, and he is not doing it well enough

Ya that’s not ideal. I personally think we are better than we are playing, or at least I really hope so.
The best defense is a good offense and we simply aren’t possession the puck, getting shots on net and scoring as much as we should be.
I’m noticing on a lot of these goals against, it’s the 3rd/4th/5th opportunity in a sequence for the opposing team.
I often find myself saying “yup I could feel that one coming”
Then people are like swayman/Korpisalo should have saved that, sway/korpisalo were out of position and it’s like ya because they had to make a ridiculous save or two already in the sequence and the defense isn’t doing shit to clear the net/puck
I could say the same thing about other posters that have a one track mind in regards to Charlie.
Im not angry about anything, Kind of ironic you asking me to have an open mind about this dont you think?

Well, even if you didn't believe it, the Bruins had multiple forwards in Lysell and Merkulov who were actually in the mix for the top6 in camp. Lysell started on a line with Marchand. There was nobody in Providence on defense on that level. From a depth chart point of view, they 'replaced' DeBrusk with Lindholm (which moved Zacha to wing in theory) but they still needed to replace Grzelcyk and/or Forbort.
I'll also push back a bit on the idea that Zadorov hasn't shown he can play top4. Last year, he played top4 in the playoffs for Vancouver and was great. He was their best player in the Edmonton series.
Even here, learning a new system, through 18 games he and McAvoy are +2 at even strength. I know he's had some gaffes but Zadorov-McAvoy have an xG of 57.14%, and that's with McAvoy (and Pasta) looking like they're not interested in fall hockey. For a point of comparison, last year, our best D-pair was Lindholm-McAvoy and they were 57.3%. Grzelcyk-McAvoy was 52%.

I think the entire team can play better defensively. Against fast teams they cannot stop the rush. That has to change.
Spending more time in the other teams zone would go a long way to cutting down on the amount of high danger chances against. Sadly on this I think this team is what it is. Difficulty entering the zone with possession, difficulty maintaining possession off the cycle, difficulty getting quality chances especially in the middle of the offensive zone, or even shots through to the net.
They won't keep scoring less than 2 goals a game all season. But make no mistake this is a bottom-tier offensive club that likely finishes under 2.50 goals a game.
It's pretty rare now for a team to score less than 200 goals in a season. Will the Bruins crack 200? Probably not. I wouldn't put money on it.

But every goalie isn't playing the same shooters here a quarter way through the season.
I've admitted he could be better and hasn't played up to his salary. That doesn't mean he's been bad or is the problem here.
He's playing a bottom-tier offensive team tonight with CBJ. Let's see how he does.

Why does it have to be a power forward that can score? Why can't he just focus on a forward that can score?

tbh a power forward feels like the opposite of what they need anyway. We are so noticeably slower then literally every good team (and some of the bad ones) that we play, they really need someone that can skate and put opposing defenses on their heels a bit. Adding a power forward would be doubling down on what's already not working.

1000%. There is no Bruin forward that off the rush even makes opposing D-men flinch. Pasta maybe when he's on but that is more finesse stickhandling than burning speed.
And what team trades away power forwards that can score anyways? Pretty rare commodity in today's NHL.
If Sweeney is limiting his search to only power forwards they have no chance and frankly only makes one question what the heck this front office is thinking.

Swayman's even strength save percent is 34th. Worse than every starter and a couple backups. Korpisalo is 22nd with the same defense. Link
Yes, team defense has been bad, but no way should Korpisalo be ahead of Swayman across the board in every category. Swayman has not been good enough. Not by a mile. Team defense, team offense also not good enough, but Swayman shouldn't be getting a free pass.

Agree Swayman's numbers need to improve, but he has also been getting the tougher starts.
In other words he is looking for a 3rd or 4th liner on another team who maybe has some speed that can forecheck, hits, and maybe gets 12 - 15 goals a year so the Bruins can use him in the top six and hope to catch lightning in a bottle.
Sweeney does not how to make adjustments to this roster, maybe he should go down to Washington and work......Chychrun, Managiapane, Varana, Dubois, Ellar, Roy, they all seem to be blending in quite well, and they have had the same amount of time as the Bruins new roster. Oh, and they have lost T.J. Oshie, no excuses there.

I gave his 5v5 stats. 5v5 gets rid of the 3v3 overtime which we will never see in the playoffs.
Yes with the same defense but Korpisalo has had the easier deployments. Seayman certainly
Needs to be better. No question. The offense and defense has been much worse than the goalies though.
