Let’s trade the only guy who works hard every night, wins puck battles, good on F/Os, excellent puck possession, plays PK and PP, can play up down lineup, and comes with good contract and puts up points consistently. Yah no thanks. When should e be resigning Coyle is the question.

Isn't all of that what they are paying Elias Lindholm to do?

At what point does those skill-sets become redundant in a cap system? I like Coyle but this team needs to start allocating cap space towards offensive ability/driving play/scoring goals. A team with 1 legit producer, and 11 two-way forwards and grinders has no chance. They desperately need another true offensive threat to slot behind Pasta. Where is the cap space coming from to do that if your unwilling to let Coyle go?

You can go through all the drafts since Sweeney became GM and you won't find any Bergerons after the first round. Is Barzal an equivalent to Krejci? I don't think so, but they could have had him in 2015 because they had 3 first rounders.

Guys like Bergeron and Krejci don't slip through the cracks anymore.
Sebastian Aho?
Roope Hintz?
Kaprizov?
All three were drafted after the first round in 2015.

I think all three are better at this point in the career vs Krejci.

Aho is very , very close to Bergeron.....has 5 years of 35+ goals, Bergeron had zero in his first eight years....one year he scored 31 goals.
Both are great hockey players.

I am in total agreement with you, Coyle plays the game the way it should be played, yes he has like ay player has had his bad stretches, but overall he is a damm good hockey player.

But Elias, is not doing it, and at his money, when you get what you and many others want by moving Coyle, Elias, will be the next target and I will even go as far to say they will have a "should have kept Charlie " movement.

Is there a different Coyle than the one that's on the Bruins? Because the Coyle that we have blows.

A guy that plays on the worst PP and PK in the league? Up and down the line up?

And we wonder why we suck lol

2015 was a long time ago.

That said, yes, Aho could have been had if the B's used one of their first-round picks. Or Hintz in the 2nd round. Kaprizov wasn't on anyone's radar, he went in the fifth round. Everyone passed on him multiple times. 2015 could have been a bonanza

Point is those kinds of opportunities rarely arise anymore in the draft.

I like Charlie Coyle. Always have.

What I don't like are teams built with way to many of the same type of player. That is what the Bruins forward group is now in a nutshell. Elias had better start bringing those qualities on a consistent basis, because they've hitched their wagon to him regardless with that 7-year contract.

I hear what you are saying, and hitting gold like that is harder, perhaps, than it was 20 years ago. That said, Aho or Hintz are in their primes now, and could have been the replacement center they've needed. Jordan Kyrou was a 2016 second rounder. It's all speculation, and some of the guys they passed on maybe would have developed differently in Boston and of course Aho might not have been as good had he been here. No one knows, but the larger point is that they lost Bergeron and Krejci have no adequate replacements. I guess E. Lindholm, who I like as a player, is 50% of the job, but the hole is still there and the cupboard is empty.

Yep, could have taken Kyrou instead of Frederic. But he's not a center. Besides, he's a Canadian and Freddy is not.

Seriously though, why would the Bruins be drafting for Bergeron & Krejci replacements in 2015? Neither Bergeron nor Krejci had even turned 30 yet.

Every time someone brings up that draft, forgets that there is a Salary Cap!
Does anyone honestly think that the players some here wanted them to draft would wait for Bergy and Krejci to retire to get there payday?
Just look at their contracts after their rookie contracts were up, does it look like they were going to wait that long?
No I don't think so!
What realistically have to look at the year Lysell was drafted, two picks after Dallas drafted Wyatt Johnston, the kid is a stud!.
That is what is the one to piss and moan about!

I think they need to shift their focus from 2RW to 1LW.

Brazeau is doing a great job on the 2nd line and that trio has chemistry. It's nice that Geekie scored tonight and it would be a great if he suddenly became the answer there, but if not that's going to be the hole they need to fill.

They can't be a great team without a dominant first line.
Right if line 2 sticks and I hope it does 1RW becomes Geekie, Frederic, an outsider or a very outside shot at a prospect like Merk finally making the leap.

I guess the idea is that you have a rough sense of the average NHL development arc, and hope you don't end up in a spot where your core are in the mid-30s and you have no one ready to step in to a larger role which is what happened. They tried with JFK around that time so I think Sweeney was thinking about it. Frederic was a center at draft time in 2016. They passed on a couple guys when they took Vaakanainen the next year. So it's been on the radar but nothing stuck. Maybe that's just how it goes sometimes, and I certainly don't think a first ballot HOFer, and a guy that will almost surely be a Bruins HOFer are easy to replace, if you even can, but they really have hit a dry spell with top 6 level centers in their system.

Hopefully he can package players. To get anything of value may require Poitras plus.

Not really sure how I feel about Zegras ... but maybe if he could be had on the cheep? But that is not even considering the cap hit. Someone making money would have to be moved.
I did want another play making center over the summer, but depending on whom that would be we also need a top 6 winger with finish.

Zegras at this point should be considered a salary dump type of guy who has negative value.

Maybe if they are willing to make it worth your while, and you can find the way to make the money work then you take the chance

I'm not endorsing it. Just posting it.

I do not want to trade Matthew.
