The providence game I watched brown looked really good. He was flying. Maybe he is the call up.

I have nothing against the guy, and he is a quality AHL player, but this team needs some offensive ability right now. He is not that guy in the NHL.

As mention above, likely a paper transaction.

That being said, is a team that is struggling like the Bruins are really a place for essentially a 20-year old with less than 50 games professional experience? Often tossed into the deep end being tasked with the responsibilities of playing center away from the puck. It's not like this is some seasoned 3rd year AHLer with nothing left to learn down in the minors.

On a team seemingly still trying to adjust to the system changes their trying to implement. Heck, we are seeing some of the veterans struggle with the changes defensively.

If they were a stronger team or a team playing well, that had its systems down pat I could see the argument to keep him up here. But that isn't the case right now. They have an important stretch coming up here where they need to win 7 or 8 of the next 13 IMO at minimum.

We needed a number 1 center Donny got a number 1 center in elias lindholm. The end. Team is struggling a bit but it's early and are in a playoff position at the moment . It's only early November .
Comedy gold, Mrs. Sweeney. Team needed, and still needs, lots more than that. Donny Harvard has screwed up this team badly. Franchise deserves better than him.

Doesn’t seem like a paper transaction if the coach talked about it.

It’s good to me though. He needs more time getting stronger in Providence. Given him first line minutes. Let him understand the time and space he needs in the big leagues. He has the head for the game no doubt and the way he plays he has to be stronger on his skates to maximize it. I truly believe he will end up like Krejci. Krejci played a few years in the AHL and did him well. I see the same for Poitras.

What’s the final round in the draft again ?

Trading him now makes no sense. Better off waiting and hoping he can find his game a bit. Unless someone wants to him badly and makes an offer Sweeney can’t refuse.

Correct now is not the time. I also think he will get it together; I think he is being written to soon, he did have a pretty good year last year.

Something to note is that their defensive play 5-on-5 is improving from the start of the season as they are now around league average or above in most defensive categories with save percentage being well above average. On the other hand, their offense is bottom 10 and sometimes bottom 5 in ALL categories.

So with that said, does it really make sense to send a guy like Poitras down without at least calling up another offensively minded player? I just can't see the return of Morgan Geekie jumpstarting any sort of scoring.

Coyle is just mailing it in at this point likes being a local celebrity and couldn't care less when he's on the ice. Shameful Sweeney and Neely are too cowardly to trade him.
Shameful, that you did not appreciate the year he had last year. I might add he has been playing better the last few games, but let's not go there.

I can’t possibly disagree more. Full disagreement.

There will be injures and he'll be back up. Let him go down for now while the big club gets its house in order. The coaching staff has enough on their plate trying to get more seasoned players on track, the coaches staff's bandwidth is only so large. Do they have time right now with everything else going on to look after a rookie player? It's only doing a disservice to Poitras keeping him around right now.

They are replacing him in the line-up with a guy who had 17 goals and almost 40 pts. here last year. It's not like he's being sent down to put Jeremy Reich in the line-up.

Again, I disagree. Hes been very effective. Only guy who will actually skate the puck off the wall and try to do something. This babying of young players in favor of a guy like Johnson who had inflated stats last year due to being on PP1 for a horrid team doesn’t help either.

Johnson has been very disappointing in the few games he's played

The lines are back to pairs...

Geekie - Zacha - Pastrnak
March - Lindholm
- Brazeau
Frederic - Coyle - Johnson
Beecher - Kastelic - Koepke

I think the pairs makes sense and we're strong down the middle. Imagine that top line with a Bertuzzi type and maybe we'd have something.

The Lindholm line has been very strong at 5on5 in terms of possession; 24 shot attempts for, 10 against, 86% expected goals. (And 2 goals for, none against.)

Frederic and Coyle is a tried and true, dedendable pair. I think Johnson is a placeholder for Poitras there, but should do some good things there for now.

4th line is back in black. They should be good as well.

All comes back to the 1st line though. Without a 1st line that can outscore the other team, we become so much easier to defend.

Glad to see the 4th line back in tack.

Yes, he does skate the puck off the wall quite well, but he is at his best when no one is around him and he has room. As far Johnson goes, they could have shared a ride to Providence as far as I am concerned.

He's been awful in the playoffs since 2019. One of the country club guys has to go not sure why management won't do anything.
