Monty will be the first domino to fall cause that's just how the NHL goes, but if you want to send a real message then a member of the leadership core gone either at the deadline or next offseason. Can't be McAvoy or Pasta, and Marchand is a legend that deserves to finish his career here. But Carlo or Coyle are fair game, both have been here for a long time now and established themselves as leaders. You want to send a message to the rest then that's how you do it.

I'd like to see them take a look at Michael Carcone in Utah. Scored 21 goals last year but has fallen out of the line-up. Immediately becomes Boston's fastest forward.

He's a natural winger and honestly if they aren't going to use Geekie as a C then he's being wasted because he's a terrible winger and the Bruins could use some speed and skill added to the wing.

Even if not a straight swap with Utah the Bruins should have zero problems moving Geekie for whatever to whomever (Nashville maybe? They want a C and have cap space) to clear a roster spot and make a separate deal for Carcone. Gives the Bruins some cap savings (1.25 million) and cap flexibility.
Carcone would be a solid add. Cheap to acquire, cheap salary. I think last year was flukey, but worth a shot. A better option than Tyler Johnson I'd say.

Another tin foil hat conspiracy theory: maybe there's a rift in the locker room and because things have always been great in there since 07, nobody knows how to handle it and the disfunction has bled over to the on ice product. It seems odd that 95 percent of the team just all of a sudden suck at playing hockey at the same time. Nobody is playing for each other.
You are right about trying to get him fired, but I do not think they are playing like they care if he keeps his job. You hit on something that has crossed my mind, could there be a little something going on in the room. I lot of these guys did not come in when things were good on and off the ice, big turnover. When they had bad streaks before, you could see some urgency to their play, win or losing, that seems to be lost.

Somewhat disagree, I think it could be any of the names you mentioned and others also. The problem unfortunately, Clauses and salary cap can make it harder to do, and hampers you with what you really want to do, and need to do. But a shakeup is a must.

Go and make a splash and ship out one of the 'core' players. Free up cap space. I'd be calling Sakic right now to see if Coyle will help them out. Zacha as well.

Then call Utah with the same offers.

First one to send you a pick and no cap space back wins.

Then see how the players respond and start calling with that new cap space around to see who is going to be available.

Let the team know that although you could only move one of them, you're going to be making other moves to free up more cap space for players that want to be here.

For those who wanted bigger.

So Kastelic and Zadorov are the issue?

They got no cap space to do anything else. It may end up a bust but like you said, it's worth a shot. Adds to what they need at the very least (speed on the wing). The small cap savings alone it's probably worth it. Geekie looks like he has no place here any longer if they won't use him as a center.

Could very well be.

For me, the Zacha playoff runs and his goal droughts had me moving on from him awhile ago. Just can't score in the playoffs.

Coyle has seem disinterested in playing for the Bruins this year.

If you can send a message to the room that this product is not acceptable by moving one of them out while also letting the Geekie, Coyle, Carlo, Frederic crew know that other irons are in the fire may be all this team needs.

What has been on display for Boston this year is lazy complacent poor play from the core. When that happens, a shake-up of that core is the only solution.

They feel impervious to any coaches demands or threats.

Seems like par for the course for a "Player's coach" eventually.

Monty showed up to practice last year with a big fake gold chain around his neck with Pasta's face attached to it. When the boys think the boss is now one of the boys, it's game over for that boss.
I've got this vibe from Monty as well.

Who else is considered a players coach? I know Boudreau is and he seems to always have a short shelf life wherever he goes. Maybe just the nature of that type of coaching style?

I'd love to see Carlo and or Coyle gone. They just ooze soft laid back attitudes to me and we need some people on this team with a pulse.
Send Carlo to Colorado as they seem to need a top 4. Not sure of the return. Send Coyle to the Chicago Bruins and get Bertuzzi back. The chemistry with him and Pasta was refreshing. May not be the smartest but he had a pulse.

Too me those two are country club, soft and are really overrated.

I think Coyle needs to go as well. I'm less reluctant on Zacha because he can support Pastrnak if he's the 3rd best forward on that line. I'm not ready to move Carlo just yet either. Defensive depth is just too important.

I would specifically look at the Predators. Definitely not on Coyle's 8 team no trade. They've been rumored to be looking for a center and have three 1st round picks. Geekie can go as well.

Elias Lindholm makes Coyle redundant. They really need to focus on getting 1st line C/LW and a 2nd line RW. Something like Zegras and Vatrano. Great mix of speed, playmaking and one nasty shot

Zacha Zegras Pastrnak
Marchand Lindholm Vatrano
Frederic Poitras Brazeau
4th

Lightning made some ballsy moves this offseason trading Sergachev and letting Stamkos walk. I mean these were HUGE core guys for them. Total change of locker room type of moves (for different reasons) but they are humming along just fine this year.

We didn't win with Coyle as our 3C, didn't win last year with him as our 2C and he's been abysmal in the playoffs both times. Time for a change but I think you start with him.

Coyle has a limited NTC which will make moving him difficult. He picks teams, he stinks and is overpaid. Sadly I think Coyle is here unless they get a coach who demands he play physical and he waives his NTC.

Carlo also has a limited NTC

Funny how you bring uop O'Reilly, would he have not looked good in this lineup for a little more than 4 mil that you are paying Lindholm. That is what you call a reasonable contract and just maybe, he might add a little more to leadership that everyone is talking about.
Wonder of we could trade Coyle for O'Reilly?

Coyle only has an 8-team NTC, he no doubt will put most of the Canadian teams on it and probably San Jose and Anaheim, he could be moved. Nashville may be looking to shake things up, I would see of they agree to Coyle + Geekie + Merkulov for O'Reilly + Evangelista.

In the Bergeron days, if they had a stinker like Philly you could bet your ass they would have a great effort the next time out. These guys chose to go another way.
