I still think a 2nd + Geekie for Rakell base would be a good trade. Geekie is redundant on this team & Rakell is a good scorer who gives the top six some flexibility since he can play both wings. Not crazy about the term given his age but I still see Rakell as a solid target despite that.

I don't do a 2nd, but maybe a 3rd and Geekie. We're doing Pitt a favor taking that contract.

Start the Rebuild: By moving out the following:
Frederic, Brazeau and Wotherspoon and Marshy if he wants to go to a contender Year 1
Coyle, Geekie and Peeke and Marshy if he wants to go to a contender. Plus make a decision on Swayman before his NMC kicks in Year 2
Hampus, Zadorov and Zacha. Year 3
McAvoy Year 4
Carlo can me moved any time starting in year 1.

Yeah I thought Rakell only had 2 years left after this season not 3. I think I'd still do 2nd+Geekie but only if Pittsburgh retained a decent chunk of salary.

I know you’re only half serious but I am waiting for the “He’s scoring now, we can’t trade him. He’s too valuable to us” crowd. A stark contrast to the “we can’t trade him because he has no value. We need him to get hot first” crowd. They usually come out of the woodwork around TDL time, but this year’s clusterf*** may force early sightings.

I really couldn't give a damn if Freddy stays or goes ..he's not much of a difference maker...not a glue guy either...serviceable sure.. but he's a 3rd line guy ceiling. Just don't overpay if he stays.
 
What could they get for Marchand + Frederic + Brazeau in a UFA package with 50% retention for a contending team? Not at the deadline, I mean right freakin' now. That's all 3 players for the remainder of the season + playoffs. All UFAs with no commitment past this season. Get ahead of the market.

Why wait?

Bruins are trending towards being sellers. Marchand can stay if he wants to, but the only other UFA the Bruins should consider bringing back is Wotherspoon.

I'd rather sell the guys with term and try and grab the 8 seed. Would love a playoffs with 2 road games to start first round and no expectations. Just clear out the country club and trade one of them. Freddy rental price can't be more than a 4th? Geekie 7th?

You cool with Pasta as captain? I am. It can't be McAvoy Charlie is not up for it. If you know he's getting it eventually moving Brad for someone who helps the team is OK. Can't be the only move.

I don't care who the captain is. Makes no difference to me.
 
I’ve suggested this before - not sure if I got roasted or not - but I would consider trading both Charlie’s (MacAvoy & Coyle) to Vancouver for Pettersson and Myers. 14.6 million in, 14.75 out. So the money works.

It would be a definite shake up hockey trade that could benefit both teams.
Fire Monty as well
