Interesting waiver pickup to where it looks like Bussi or Patera backing up Korpi. Possibly DiPietro. So if I understand right, because Patera is a waiver claim, he will have to pass waivers again if Boston sends him down? Bussi also not waiver exempt, but not sure about DiPietro. Puckpedia doesn't list him as, but they also have him as a non-roster goalie.

Strange move. Send him down. Bring him back up. Maybe Boston is just trying to get the fans fired up.

Or is someone injured?

They basically said they were going to do this. Get's Lysell more 1-1 coaching at Providence for a few days when they were going to ice a lineup that didn't include him on Tuesday.

I still think he is almost certain to start the year in Providence,

Would love to see him make it impossible to send him down. I want him to succeed so bad. I just love his skating so much.

I think it was a bit of message sending. Not in a bad way, just you need to play well every night or you'll need to continue developing in Providence. Try and get some urgency in his game.

He had some good-looking moments tonite .He had 2 really good looks in the 3rd because he can skate and get to good parts of the ice.Even though they lost tonite by 3 goals I think it was the closest to the NHL I have seen him look to date.

Regardless of where this guy plays, they needed a 4th goalie, 2 NHL, 2 AHL.

Bruins are preparing for life without
Life will be hard for the Bs without Swayman. I don’t think adding guys like Lindholm and Zadorov will replace losing the tandem if Swayman doesn’t come back, which tending has saved their ass more than its turn in the last two years. And so realistic, believing that goalie Bob will do miracles with Korpisalo and make him a serious goalkeeper for the next season is really ridiculous. Bs will miss the playoffs without Sway and they re thin in offensive top6

WASHINGTON — There’s a buzz around Max Jones. And that’s because Jones has been buzzing.

After missing a chunk of Bruins training camp because of a nagging groin injury, Jones has returned with vengeance as he makes a late surge to lock down a spot on the opening night roster.

Jones made his exhibition debut Thursday in Quebec City and was back in the lineup for Saturday’s 2-0 loss to the Capitals in the preseason finale at Capital One Arena.
It’s a small sample size, but coach Jim Montgomery has expressed excitement about what the 6-foot-3-inch, 216-pound power forward can bring to his lineup.

“He hits hard,” said Montgomery. “Bruins fans are going to like him.”

A first-round pick by the Ducks in 2016, Jones has 31 goals and 62 points in 258 regular-season games — all with Anaheim.

The Bruins were always a team Jones admired, so he was thrilled to find out the feeling was mutual when free agency opened in July, and he got the call from general manager Don Sweeney.

“The past six years playing against the Bruins, it definitely felt like a game that, the way they played, it kind of brought out my game,” said Jones, who signed a two-year deal with an average annual value of $1 million. “So, when I was playing against them, I always felt like I played good games against Boston strictly just based on the way that the Bruins played. I always had Boston on my mind throughout those years. They play a really good hard style of game, especially you look at these additions, you got [Nikita] Zadorov, [Mark] Kastelic, these big guys, big bodies, and I think it’s just going to fit in real well with the way I play and I’m just really excited to be around this group.”

Being on the sideline “took its toll mentally,” said Jones, who watched a lot of videos and took notes to keep himself engaged as he rehabbed. He said getting accustomed to the Bruins systems has gone well.

Nothing too crazy. When it comes to the O-zone, you’re just playing hockey. Neutral zone is a little different than previous years that I’ve had in Anaheim, but nothing crazy,” Jones said. “D-zone, not too bad for a winger, so that should come along quickly. I’m not too worried about it. At the end of the day, it’s playing your position and minor tweaks here and there based on the system but should be good to go.”

Jones’s speed and power should help him create space for himself and his linemates. Defenders must respect his quickness and strength.

“Yeah, big, strong, fast, hunt pucks,” said Jones, describing his style. “Kind of play like my hair’s on fire a little bit. I like to take pucks to the net, definitely an agitator, whether I try to be or not, it just kind of happens. But I like to play that fast style of game, create opportunities for my linemates and obviously myself around that net.”

The courage and ability to get to the dirty areas is something Montgomery has appreciated from Jones and fellow free agent signee Cole Koepke.

“We did rush drills where they just go wide and they take it hard to the net, the speed with the power, and I guess for lack of a better word, how brave they are going to hard areas is something that is nice to see,” said the coach.
