It was a tough start to the season for the Boston Bruins. For a team that has a goal of winning the Stanley Cup, the performance on the ice was not up to their standards.

They have to get Pasta going or they have no chance. The only realistic way to do that now I think is to put Marchand on LW with Zacha and Pasta. IMO Zacha is their most talented center offensively paired with their two best LW and RWers. Get at least one line going hopefully. Settle on who your 4 centers are (I'd pick Zacha-Lindholm-Coyle-Geekie), and keep the other guys on their natural wing.

Frederic - Lindholm - Brazeau (2nd scoring line)

Beecher - Coyle - Kastelic (shut down line)

Koepke - Geekie - Johnson (the 4th line, sheltered match-ups)

They don't have the depth to run 3 or 4 lines consistently. Maybe get Zacha off the PK and save him for EV and PP, maybe Marchand too, let the lower line guys kill PKs, your entire 3rd line can kill penalties, and others besides (Frederic, Lindholm).

The question will be is if they allow Sweeney to make those decisions. If the bruins moss the playoffs he’s gone.

Problem is, who out there is better than Sweeney at this point. Look at Nashville. Trotz in control and they haven’t turned the corner yet. Did he shit the bed? I don’t want another Dubas in here. I’d rather keep Sweeney and toss Neely. There seems to be a back and forth there. Promote Sweeney and let Gold work with him. Unless some of you know who would be better…

Gold can only do so much. He can’t hide contracts that Sweeney gives out. Big decisions for Mr Charlie Jacobs.

I'm not disagreeing, but moreso wondering is that Gold's fault? My understanding is he does what he can to make the cap work with what Sweeney gives him, or am I off the mark?

We're already losing, just play the kids at this point. It's abundantly clear this lineup desperately needs players with actual top 6 upside and those are only coming via trade or by growing some f***ing balls and playing Lysell, Poitras, and Merk.
