Give me a break, The kid cannot make Winnepeg, and you are putting him on the first line with Pasta, you now putting Zacka on third line and Coyle to the wing so you can make Poitras you second line center, good grief !
It's not that he can't make it in Winnipeg, he doesn't even have a contract with them

McGroaty would be an absolutely awesome add for this team. Young play making center. I'd much rather have him than Lindholm, although we could totally get both.

Wonder what the ask is. 25th + Lysell? Is Winnipeg looking for roster players? Maybe Geekie has some appeal, or Frederic (though I'd like to keep him).

Whats the biggest contract you all would be comfortable giving Stamkos? (If you're even interested)
I wouldn't offer much at all. He's a powerplay specialist at this point in his career. Maybe 2x$5mil.

If their deals are short (Stamkos for 2 years type thing) I would expect a play for Drai. If their contracts are long, I think Drai will never be.

I'd be comfortable with the 25OA + Merk

I wouldn't like 25OA + Lysell but if you can't sell them on Merk, make the deal and move on

Flat out no on Lohrei for McGroarty

Thats a great question. He can still play at a high level. I’d try for 3 years somewhere in the 7s per. If it took a 4th year Id probably give it if that locked him up.
Im somewhere in there too.

I'd be very happy if this is our squad going into next year. Poitras starts down in the A but would be first callup. Just need to add one more blueliner.

I'd do 25+Merk in a heartbeat. I'm not as high on Lysell as most but if he were in the deal I'd definitely want a pick coming back too, maybe a 3rd or 4th.

I don't think I trade Lorhei for anybody right now. He was the best player on the ice for us for a good amount of the playoffs.

He had the same 5v5 production as Heinen last season, I'm not giving that dude 7+ mil. Love Stammer, first ballot HoFer, one of the best goal scorers of his generation, great leader. Everything you could want your franchise player to be. But he's just not super effective at 5v5 anymore and you aren't moving Pasta off the left dot on the PP either. Not a fit.

Unfortunately "comfortable" probably doesn't figure into the equation. Teams like Toronto and Detroit will be aggressive so it's a matter of outbidding other teams. Toronto has Matthews, Detroit has Larkin, Boston has... Coyle. Boston needs him more. They should be willing to go further than other teams.

I'll say 4 years @ $8M AAV is probably the realistic minimum. The extra year ends up being part of the competition, I'll guess. I'd come in with an aggressive offer to get the attention of Stamkos + his agent. The question becomes, do you just go for it with Stamkos because you think he's your guy or do you (possibly) pay less and take less age risk with somebody like Lindholm, who is not at the level of Stamkos. I would not be looking at trying to save for the next couple years just so you can add a 3rd line winger or whatever.

It's the unpopular opinion but I'd pay Stamkos what it takes, term + $. What you are getting for that extra $ is worth it IMO.

I can’t see Toronto trading Marner and replace him with stamkos. The reason they move Marner is for defense. Get rid if his money and go get a number one d and goalie
Yeah I’m not saying it’s a good idea just going on rumours of Toronto and Montreal being the most interested according to DeBrum.

Any interest in Kadri as a stop gap 2C or is he pretty much more of what we have there now? I know he’s had his issues but he seemed to do okay in Colorado.

I have no interest to be honest in trading for anyone. I want them to get free players and save their assets.

Don’t spend money on bottom six guys. It’s set
Freddy-Poitras/Coyle-Geekie
Beecher/lauko/kastelic/brazeau/kuntar/boqvist(?)
Top. 6. Talent.
100% this.
