Prospect Info: '24-'25 Prospects Thread: Generation Z

He was in Pittsburgh this week with a full knee brace on. Probably won't get word on what it actually is for awhile. I asked around but got met with the usual "lower body."

Also asked around about Blomqvist. "He tweaked something" was the response.

Edit: Narrator: "They did not have to wait awhile..."
Out nine months, yeah, that sucks.

ACL is 9 months? Usually it's 4-6 I thought.
You can do other procedures to get down to that 4-6 month timeframe but unless the injury is very minor it’s a horrible idea. Not going to fully heal and strengthen and it’ll go again. Or something else in the knee will.

Yeah I googled it and it is 9 months. Not sure what I was thinking. Been a while since a relevant player of ours had an ACL tear. Maybe Malkin was the last one.

Having done my ACL/Meniscus, I can't imagine 4-6 months. Granted, I am a significantly far cry from anything resembling a professional athlete. But I did tear it playing in Cranberry, so that's like having stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Pump the brakes on Harding. The ECHL seemed to be a little too much for him.
I know the feeling after being in my profession for twenty years now I’m glad I wasn’t kicked to the curb one week after my first job. If he has been playing in Wheeling for three years yes that maybe a problem.

Dustin Jeffrey comes to mind. He looked somewhat promising until that injury and lost a fair amount of speed when he came back.

The situation of the two is not comparable. Jeffrey's injury was almost 15 years ago. At that time, the treatment of such an injury was very different from today. Jeffrey also had problems during rehabilitation.

Nowadays, cruciate ligament surgery is no longer a major procedure and many athletes can continue their career without any problems. Especially if the injury occurs at this age.

DSP makes it 1-0 Wheeling, and Castor gave up a terrible shot 30 seconds later. 1-1 on a star studded night...

Nailers took 2 penalites in the first 2 minutes and Norfolk capitalized on the 5on3. Gauthier made a huge save, then the second chance went in before he could set back up. They scored again as the 2nd penalty expired. Nailers get one back, David Jankowski from Chase Pietila, 2-1 after 1. Norfolk had 11 shots on the power plays, and only had 2 the last 17 minutes of the period. Heres the big save/1st Norfolk goal on the 5on3.

1 playoff win for the entire organization could just be a fluke but I kinda also hope they sort of consider the possibility that it isn’t and adjust accordingly.
I think the reality is that while the organization has made strides in the quality of talent in the minors, it still has a ways to go.

Six of WBS' top ten points leaders were 23-and-under. Two of its defensemen in the AHL playoffs were 20 and 18 - and they were better than 28-year-old Sebastian Aho and 30-year-old Dan Renouf.

Per EliteProspects, WBS had the ninth youngest team in the AHL this year. Many of its core players were in their first year of North American professional hockey.

This was progress, but there is work to do.

Don't really care if our minor league teams are winning. I mean it's nice when they do, but as long as our prospects are showing improvement year to year, that's all that matters.
