24 25 Former Predators Thread

I mean it's not that any one of these guys alone were a "grave loss" but each one of the moves that are regularly brought up made the team inarguably older and, probably, incrementally worse. That stuff adds up.

Tomasino 1+1 last night and first star
Glass also had a goal and has 4P in 4G for the Devils so far. That move was harder to be upset about, but I'm happy for him if he can make it work there.
Only thing that upsets me about the Glass move is that apparently Trotz had to pay to get rid of Glass but a year later he could apparently be move for a positive asset. That shows just how bad Trotz is right now.

Yeah, this rush to get rid of the guys not in Barry's plans, even if it costs us, is strange. Definitely has a different view on asset management

He may have but this trade deadline showed he still had value so at worst it should have been one of those future considerations deals rather than handing away assets.
He also could have run a short roster, or just taken the Johansen termination at face value and boldly used that space. But in mid-August teams have mostly already filled up their lineups and their Cap space, so it's not surprising that it's a much more difficult time to move players with salary than it is at the TDL.

Given our subsequent liquidation of other players, I guess it's not ideal that we had to pay to move Glass, but I don't think there's anybody here who thought he was ever going to be a useful player for us anymore? I think just sending him to the minors, taking the buried Cap hit, and then reducing the roster would have been one way to go. Or if you already knew you didn't like Tomasino and Parssinen, just trade them before pressboxing them and tanking their returns? At their lower Cap hits they'd have been easier to move than Glass.

There were a lot of options that didn't include moving assets, you could have not signed Carrier if you didn't like him to start with.

I mean we could've just not extended fabbro if we were just gonna waive him or parssinen /tomasino if we were gonna give up on them and trade them for next to nothing. Carriers contract atheist yielded Barron who is think has been pretty decent.

Probably could have traded Carrier for Barron last season tbh and not bothered signing him and having the cap hit to muddle things to begin with. Fabbro should have been traded in the offseason, as well as Parssinen and Tomasino.

Trotz learning from his mistakes would mean Evangelista is gone in the off-season and we replace him with Vrana for cheap or some even older vet

Maybe it would mean just not qualifying Evangelista? He's an RFA, maybe it's better to just let him walk instead of giving him a bridge deal and then getting nothing for him later anyway? At least that way we wouldn't have to pay him any money, or worst case like Glass have to pay somebody to take him from us? :help:
