Not scratching him and giving him consistent minutes is probably a big part of it. I think a lot of people really understate the difficulty of getting into a groove while playing inconsistent minutes and bouncing in and out of the lineup.
While thinking the least little error... or perceived error - which might even be due to your partner messing up.... is going to result in a return to the bench/pressbox.

There is some "Josi effect" though. You could see in their movements that Fabbro would start to engage in the offensive zone but Josi would be jumping into the same open area so Fabbro would back out and be the responsible one. It happened with almost every breakout out too. Josi would be flying the zone for a pass from Fabbro rather than setting up as a safety valve if Fabbro skated up ice and got into traffic. It's why guys like Skjei, Ellis, and Carrier don't fit with Josi. Someone has to be defensively aware and it is absolutely not going to be Josi.

My one issue with him is that he has a tendency to fan on pucks or outright give them away. Looks like that hasnt changed in Columbus either. 7.43 give aways/60 and the next worst dman is Severson at 3.97. This is actually WAY up from his career average before this year of 1.96. Hopefully he can settle that back down.
Evason's system encourages aggressive passes up the ice and the like, and that's not helping the giveaway numbers.

Yeah, doesn't sound like it was the greatest game for Tomasino, but at least Sullivan kept running him out there. 18mins on a 2nd line must be quite the shock to Tomasino's world. Hopefully he can seize hold of that opportunity. Just going by reputation, I don't know how long it will last from Sullivan, so Tomasino better make the most of this while it lasts!

If there was ever a chance, that was it. Maybe he gets another game but his clock is probably ticking.

Looking closer at the shift chart, it looks like he was paired with Bunting and the two of them were normally with Malkin, but sometimes had one of the other centres with them. Hopefully the Pens give him more than 1 game to do something. Not saying they will, but they seem to know they aren't going to win the Cup this year and are already in seller's mode. Pull-your-RV is a low ceiling, so maybe they'll let him settle in. Not much reason not too.

Fans reactions were all over the map. Everything from terrible to really good, in fact. The most common take over there seems to be they can't believe their team is not 100% loaded with talent or they want to tank in a particular way which either does or does not include "the Predator's trash". :dunno:

Maybe Pittsburgh has a coach that realizes 1 practice and a game isnt enough to evaluate a player
Maybe, but that's not his reputation. Being more patient than Brunette is a low bar but I wouldn't expect many games with 18 minutes on the second line if he doesn't show improvement. He may not wind up in the pressbox right away but he's getting a prime opportunity.

Yeah based on everything I've read from the Pens fanbase I was surprised he even got above 3rd line let alone the number of minutes.

Sooooo Askarov went 1-0-1 with a 1.97 GAA in two games for a very bad Sharks team.
This trade is going to haunt us unless Edstrom and the 1st amount to something, which I don't have a lot of faith in at ATM.

Why we hitched ourselves to an amazing goalie who's never won a playoff series is beyond me. Elite goalies have hidden our weaknesses during the regular season throughout this team's existence. As has having elite defenders on the back end. Now that the d isn't as good, there are definitely chinks in the armor.

Our inability to draft and develop forwards has been our kryptonite.
