At least Chrona is putting up great numbers in his few starts too which cuts the sting a bit. Although I still think the big question with Askarov is his consistency. We know he can be really good but he also goes through stretches were he is brutally bad and unfortunately for him two of those stretches have taken place in the playoffs.

I fear that's going to be our Erat-Forsberg trade. Obviously different circumstances but still.
Eh, depends how the return pans out. Edstrom is off to a great start in the SHL this year and there's still a pick to be made so even if Askarov is a star it hopefully won't approach the disaster (from the Caps' perspective) of the Forsberg trade.

It's pretty tough to imagine that Askarov will be BETTER than Saros in the next 3-4 years anyway. Regardless of how well things go for him, that's a very very high bar. So it's not likely to hurt us within the kind of timeframe that Trotz has prioritized. Past that timeframe, who knows what will be happening in the world/NHL. :dunno:

Askarov is going to be a great player and that's fine. It might be soon or it might take 3-5 years.

The bottom line is he wanted out, so %&@! him.
