Yeah I guess I am too. I was just hoping that they would fail and management decisions would be vindicated. But it doesn’t look that way at all. Almost all of the cast offs have moved on to be successful on their new teams. It really looks like Trotz and Bruno have no idea what they’re doing, and this could go on for a very long time. I hope I’m being overly dramatic.Let's go Tomasino!!
I'm cheering for the Trotz rejects (Sherwood, Tomasino, Fabbro and Askarov). I really hope they have success.
Game winning goal assisted by Malkin no less.Tominsino just got his first goal for the Pens.
Also had 7 SOGGame winning goal assisted by Malkin no less.
Parsinnen most likelySo who is the next young guy we lose to waivers or trade for peanuts that will make our management and coaching look dumb?
Evangelista. I'm not convinced Parssinen will find himself a good landing spot.So who is the next young guy we lose to waivers or trade for peanuts that will make our management and coaching look dumb?
If i were a rival GM, id be scoping out how these castaways perform on other teams. If Tomasino shows signs of flourishing or even just improvement, id give any young player cast aside from here a shotEvangelista. I'm not convinced Parssinen will find himself a good landing spot.
What’s even crazier is each of our last two coaches didn’t like those guys. Really just don’t understand it at all.If i were a rival GM, id be scoping out how these castaways perform on other teams. I still wonder if our Captain liked him? I mean, the results were there. And if he liked playing with that guy, he probably has enough of a voice that the coaches would listen. And if he didn't like playing with that guy...What’s even crazier is each of our last two coaches didn’t like those guys. Really just don’t understand it at all.
The theory was always "he did great next to Josi, maybe he can do the same next to Werenski." Normally such simple ideas don't pan out exactly as expected, especially when it's been years later. This seems to be one of the rare exceptions to that rule.It seems like Columbus is almost intentionally rubbing our noses in it with Fabbro now? I mean, I've always liked him and thought he deserved a much better fate. But he has been over 22 mins a game, with 24:27 last night? He is +11 since they got him. On Columbus.
I knew he was going to be a decent/good #3/4 guy. Or I thought I knew that. But this is getting a little ridiculous. Meanwhile, our right side is:
Carrier
Schenn
Blankenburg
...maybe Josi just doesn't try to throw his weight around on matters like that?I still wonder if our Captain liked him? I mean, the results were there. To be fair, it doesn't seem like anyone gets along with Fiala. Dude probably gets traded away from LA by summerHad that same thought this morning. Wasn't there a rumor that Josi didn't get along with Fiala? Maybe I'm off in conspiracy land, but it makes as much sense to me as anything else.
Yeah we don't really have enough to say one way or another, unless Fabbro comes out and says something in an interview and he has never seemed like that kind of guy.Josi always wanted to play with Ellis. I don't know, I think he likes playing with somebody else who is bold and brash and maybe talks a big game and has a big contract, regardless of any objective evidence or what we above ice level see as being a better fit?
I've always assumed that Fabbro, by quietly hanging back, and possibly also not being super vocal or brash about anything, might be diminished from Josi's pov, regardless of whether the outside view says they worked better as a pairing.
But who really knows. When you really can't figure out why an organization seems to completely overlook a player that is so obviously better than his utilization, you're left grasping at straws.
You know who didn’t have a problem with them and actually got decent production out of them? Karl TaylorWhat’s even crazier is each of our last two coaches didn’t like those guys. Really just don’t understand it at all.
I was looking back at some stats as I had been including Hynes in the indictment of Fabbro's treatment but was surprised to remember he played his most games (79) under Hynes in the season after he was paired with Josi. Granted, much of that was on lesser pairings, but I believe that was fully due to bringing in and elevating McDonagh (and there was a belief Fabbro could anchor a [third] pairing whereas Carrier could not). It's too early to do a true "I told you so" when it comes to Fabbro but if he keeps this up through the end of the season we'll know that Poile was right all those years ago when he felt confident he could trade away PK because Fabbro was going to be really good.
It's good to see him regaining his confidence after his career got derailed by idiotic personnel decisions.
Yeah, I never could fully grasp the pairings and minutes that Hynes gave Fabbro but the pressbox stints were a Brunette thing.I was looking back at some stats as I had been including Hynes in the indictment of Fabbro's treatment but was surprised to remember he played his most games (79) under Hynes in the season after he was paired with Josi. So this bullshit was also all on Bruno and Trotz.
